Mac’s problem I have for years is the non native 4K support.
All my Mac so far all use native Apple display.

Another thing to consider when comparing Mac Mini M2-Pro with the Mac-Studio-Base, is that NONE of the Mac-Studios have HDMI 2.1, only the Mac Mini m2 pro has it.

People doing video would probably be interested by the M1 Max Mac Studio, while people doing Music (where video isn’t an issue and more CPU could help for plugins and sample libraries) will probably favor the M2 Pro Mac mini.

Paying $600 for 8GB of un-upgradeable RAM in 2023 is pushing it for me. How 16 isn’t bog standard at this point is bewildering.

The Steam Deck comes with 16 at $400. Just sayin.

8 GBs RAM and 250 GB of storage is far, FAR too little, especially in light of the fact that they are SOLDERED INTO the board! As absolutely HORRIBLE as the Windows OS is, Apple is doing their very best to make it appealing. It worked on me, after 30+ years on Macs, excuslively!

I hear what you’re saying but to spend an extra $200 for 16 gigs of RAM and then another $600 to go up to a 512 hard drive that’s not a deal. The entry-level for the Mac should have been 16 gigs of RAM and 512 of hard drive storage for 899. That would have been a deal. Apple charges too much for too little. Most windows machines at $700 to $900 have a minimum of 16gis of ram and a 1TB SSD. I know the Apple chip is superior to Intel but still, they should have made the entry-level machine 16 gigs of RAM and a 512ssd. All of that for around $900, would have been Fair. Just saying.

There’s a third argument you can make by saying the Mac mini pro M2 maxed out only equals to the value of a standard Mac Studio, but the question is who is going to keep the Mac Studio standard? I know if I get a end to Max studio it’s going to be the ultra and the ram memory will be maxed out.
