I seriously didn’t see the price drop coming, the fact that the M2 chip can be had for this low of a price is nuts, $499 with student discounts is bonkers 😮
For a desktop, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage both seem laughably low.
Uh, $200 more for the 512 GB SSD in the M2 Mac Mini versus the base model with aa 256 GTB SSD? Why, Apple, why? All other specs seem to be the same.
i’m REALLY curious if the M2 ultra will scale better than M1 Ultra @GregsGadgets
Still can’t game on it
The Dollar prices are ridiculous compared to Euro.
Think I’ll get one and paint it midnight black. Silver is soooo tired looking
Honestly, after owning the Base model 8gb M1 Mac Mini. I recommend upgrading to 16gb Ram. I’ve hit the yellow memory pressure usage often and sometimes red memory pressure when I have alot of opened windows/tabs. 8gb ram is still fine for now but 16gb ram gives you much more peace of mind.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the Mac Studio was a stop gap EOL product when the Mac Pro comes out. and the M2 Max and M2 Ultra will be the only cpu’s available in the mac pro. Ending the Mac Studio and leaving the base desktop at Mac Mini M2 Pro, the iMac with M2, and the Mac Pro with M2 Max and M2 Ultra. That would make the most sense in my mind.
m1 mac mini gone?
Shouldn’t you be addressing whether the M2 Mac Mini base is priced lower because it will have the same slower SSD as the M2 Macbook Air? Why is no one even thinking about this. Isn’t it possible NO ONE should buy the base M2 Mac Mini, but at least upgrade to 512GB of storage?
I ordered the MacBook Pro M2 Max to replace my 2011 MacBook Pro. 😅
I think these look great; had i not picked up a Mac Studio last year I’d seriously consider the M2 Pro Mini now. Would love to see a comparison between that and the Studio that’s a similar price.
19 core you say ? 19? odd number. interesting .
I’m stuck at check out deciding if I need a M2 Pro 32gb Ram with 10CPU/16gpu OR 12CPU/19GPU . $300 difference. Semi-professional Final Cut Pro video editing. Any advice?
I wonder did they put in enough cooling for the M2 SoC on the 24 GB version for the Mac mini. That’s important because the M2 SoC on the MacBook Air tended to run really hot, and a properly cooled M2 24 GB version could be quite a steal for most computational tasks.
Kinda disappointing, actually. The Base Mac Mini didn’t need a new chip … it needed more storage (256GB is inadequate) and more ports.
I’m so happy that I farted.
The base model of the M2 Mac Mini only has a 256 Gb none upgradable SSD, just like most other Macs. Not only is this too little but more importantly selecting this configuration will result in a slow system. This is because in all 256 Gb M2 Macs there is only one and not two Flash memory modules soldered onto its motherboard. This halves the rate of data transfer to the SSD by comparison with any entry level M1 Mac. I would like to beg all purchasers of the M2 Mac Mini to pay an extra $200 for a 512 Gb SSD to create a balanced fast system.
I’ve been waiting for the new M2 Mac Mini for the last 6 months. As soon as I saw the announcement, I ordered the 512GB SSD version with 24GB RAM. It arrives next week!
