13:41 probably because you compare it to the 1tb version of the m2 air you genious
I agree on the kb but as I grow older… Different needs? Use do phones?
Thanks for the objective review! I think the m2 MacBook Air a swing and miss this year. Next year the price for the redesign will return to earth and they will make the adjustments needed I’m certain.
Is it the perfect computer for everyone? No. Is it the perfect computer for most people shopping at that price range? Most likely
I love this kind of reviews where you actually used the produc for more than a couple days, everyone want to publish asap but then the reviews are more like first impressions that never receive a proper update
Nailed it.
11:31 is that a system76 in the background there?
Glad you agree that the throttling is not too bad on the M2. If the M1 never came out, everyone would be remarking on how long the M2 can run before throttling. It still goes like 50x longer than intel before throttling. (which throttled in seconds — not even counting the fact that intel wouldn’t ever run at full speed on batteries)
That t-shirt promo reminded me of local furniture/car dealer commercials from the mid-90s. 😆👍
In Canada, the difference between the 14” and upgraded m2 air (16/256) is CAD$500, so it’s way cheaper to upgrade the M2 air
So glad I’m not the only one with a Linus shrine
I can’t take you seriously when you say there isn’t anything much new in the M2 compared to M1 laptop, then procede to list significant changes.
In my opinion, the regular M1 chip is WAY more horsepower than 99% of people will actually use and need. An M2 chip Air/Pro is just for fancy product selling at this point. Update the RAM if someone wishes, but even the 8GB of integrated RAM in current generation Apple laptops is FAST and comparable to older 16GB RAM units. To sum it all up, buying a new Apple laptop is either because your current one is severely outdated, or that you don’t have one at all and want to purchase one. If someone has a recent model already, there’s not really much to update for unless you can’t scratch that itch of the small features like the MagSafe charger, etc (again, it’s a want not a NEED).
Why is Apple way over-priced? Mac mini $700 only 2 USB-A 3.0. PC $600 4 USB, same 8 cores and 8GB ram. IMac $1300 8 core CPU, 8GB ram, 256GB SSD. PC all in one $900 same specs but more inputs. PC = pay less get more. Mac = pay more get less. PC has 95% of games, more inputs, costs less, more file types supported, can be customized. Mac has less inputs, only 5% of gaming market, costs more, less file types supported, can’t be customized at all these days. PC WINS GIGANTICALLY!!! PROOF!
People have different use cases for the machine they choose. I chose this over the MBP 14″, bumped up from the base for extensive traveling over the next year.
That’s why I like you!
I subscribed solely because I found the “stay snazzy” and the wink really well timed 😆
I bought the 14 MBP instead of this and I’m very happy with my choice. The 14 MBP is a beast
22°C office ? Why ? I have never, in my life, been in a room that cold. Ever. Even in winter room is at minimum 24. In summer it is never below 27 and is often 36°C. Why do you perform tests like this ? Are you saying this computer needs mandatory air conditioner ?
This review is wrong in several ways. I got the base M2 Air machine for under $1000 with the Educational discount (when the value of the Gift Card bundle in that deal is considered). This replaces a 2012 MacBook Pro w/Retina display and SSD. This machine is half the price, half (?) the weight and thickness, and several times as “snappy” as the machine it replaces. If I attempt a task that would throttle the machine, it might be 3 or 4 times a year, at the outside, costing perhaps a few minutes per year??
(I detest the wedge-shape of all wedge-shaped Airs, which seem geometrically to be begging to slip from the hand, so that was always a non-starter. Not to mention the other improvements such as MagSafe, screen brightness, and fascinating color options in the new design.)
Recommending as mandatory a bump up in both RAM and SSD size, then pointing out that that brings the machine to an untenable price point with better options available, is self-contradictory—of course nobody should do that…
I strongly doubt that I am actually such a rare unicorn that forms the population of those that could be very happy with this machine in the base configuration!
