i like what you say… but i still use a 2017 Macbook Air to do Music production on… Logic and i don’t really have much of an issue with it. But anything is an upgrade and would do better than my little 2017 MBA. So… do i get an M1 MBA, and M2 MBA??? an MBP ????
Alright — real as hell. This is kind of review I was waiting for.
And nice Grand Seiko
I’m watching this on my M2 MacBook Air lol
no way that those mentions on all tech channels of LTT producs are organic
The Macbook Air M2 is a fine value. I got a 1tb 16gb model for $1650 with edu pricing. To find an ultralight PC with a comparable processor and the same specs would put me right in the same ballpark. I noticed that the the MB Pro 14 with 16gb ram and 512gb was selling for $50 more on sale. So I got twice the hard drive storage and a laptop with superior battery life and portability for $50 less.
You make a good point about the M1 still being a good value though.
what about fullass m2 air with 24 gigs of ram?
No you’re wrong. You only lose 50% of your IO because they only put two Thunderbolt ports. If they can get it together and put a larger MagSafe port, they could have just put another Thunderbolt and you’d still be better off. With Thunderbolt, you *CAN * have a hub, meanwhile Apple wasted the opportunity to at least put Ethernet in it like the iMac. Apple was the one to push the universal charging/data port. It was developed at their request with their investment but they went back on it cause the industry didn’t commit after they failed to commit to it with the iPhone. People worried about this non existent issue of having your cable tripped on would be disappointed to find there’s a good chance your laptop will still end up on the floor even with magnets. Especially for a laptop of that size. To hear so many of the people who praised the EU decision to mandate a standard suddenly praise the return of MagSafe is judt disappointing.
Where are the timestamps? What is this 2020?
I hit the like button specifically for that segue into the sponsor. The sponsor read with the green screen was hilarious lol
tldr; ‘shit value for money’ … moving on …
I bought the base model for school. I got $150 off with education pricing and a $150 apple gift card. I am still super happy with my purchase and haven’t encountered the throttling being a problem.
Lol at the Linus Shrine 😂
apple has gotten people to think that 1 or 2 year old devices needs replacing and are ancient relics. M1 macbook air is still a 2020 model state of the art machine if you are looking for an everyday, premium laptop, so are iphones.
great video, because you didn’t jump on the hype train and rambled about how magsafe and *slightly* improved screen is worth all that extra money.
“There are no bad products, just bad prices”. In this case the M2 MacBook Air is just too expensive for what it brings to the table.
Killed It
Thank-you for clearing that up.
I got the m1 to save 200$ USD
At 1400$ cad after a student discount the m1 air is a freaking STEAL. For students!
It’s past the return Peroid so not the time to worry about wether I made the wrong decision or not xD but I figured. It’s exactly the same functionally. Just not as sexy… Right? I do feel a bit sad about the lack of a nice DAC for my hard to drive headphones but I’ll get a btr5 second hand one day anyways!
I’ll make a PC in 2-3 years for myself. I might have spent the extra if it could play games or support all my software or if it supported more external displays than just 1
Also damn I didn’t notice the trackpad in the apple store. I wonder if I’ll see it now.
I would get the m1 14 if it just supported the software I want . I got so sad that I can’t use a Mac for everything.
It’s heavier too ey? I wanted this for college and also have an ipad for note taking. My back would break
The speakers specially are good for me as sometimes putting on headphones is a bit hard for me (when sick, or studying or cleaning my room)
Tho the performance made me jealous
Man I should have upgraded and not have been greedy… Right D:
I like the look of the m2 macbook air but that’s pretty much it… there is nothing else that convinces me to take the plunge. The M1 macbook air is the real winner
In Canada there is about a $500 price gap between a base 14″ and a 16/512 M2 Air. Even with the edu discount, it’s still a $460 difference. Am I crazy or at this point is the M2 Air not a bad choice?
For reference it’s $1,849 for 16/512 M2 Air vs $2,309CAD for base 16/512 14″. Coming from a 16″ i9 MBP, I’m looking forward to a fanless design, one of my bearings is acting up and fan noise has been annoying since day 1 with this machine.
Serious q, for any designers out there: I’m considering gettting an MBA (but the model w/more ram) for a work machine at home and was wondering if it has the power for graphic design work, or should I get the Pro 13?
