Great review !!
Make more videos pal.
It lost me at that keyboard flex, I don’t think I could ever put up with that
This might be the first and only complete no-bullshit review of the M2 Air. Congrats and thank you!
then we go back to value and worth which, simply varies from person to person☺️
I personally disagree with your view on 8gb of RAM. I do prosumer heavy workloads on an M1 Air and it’s manageable. When it comes to the M2, i went into an Apple store and tried REALLY hard to bottleneck it and i couldn’t. It’s enough for 99.9 of the laptop’s target audience.
Never owned an Apple PC, because just listening to these issues, I can’t believe the price point these things sell at.. Do we really think M2 is worth it considering ALL the negatives not to mention you already know it’s going to break in a year or two probably.
I don’t think that 16 gb RAM is a necessity
And you know what also increased? THE FUCKING PRICE. Macbook Air fills my wallet with air.
is it my screen or is the video pixelating at certain parts?
This has made me want to hold out for the updated M2 MacBook pro
great… now I feel bad for not just getting the MBP 🙁
I love this type of review, impartial, concise and to the point
3:45 That’s most likely by design, so you don’t end up breaking the cable or taking the whole laptop with you. In your example, there’s a chance the laptop would fall off your lap if the cable had a bit more resistance on the connector.
4:28 That’s because they had to add rubber coverage to the keys so you wouldn’t run into the #1 problem the new keyboard had, which is dust getting into the butterfly mechanism and staying there because Apple didn’t think about dust being a thing that exists when they designed the butterfly switch.
4:57 Well, the laptop is lighter, so there’s a chance there’s more empty space around the trackpad to change how it sounds.
6:17 This comes down to driver size. There’s no way a driver that small can deliver bass frequencies at a sufficiently loud volume and human ears are more sensitive to frequencies around the range of human voices anyways, so it makes sense to prioritize those frequencies instead of targeting full range. Headphones and earphones can do that because the driver is very close to your ear.
13:45 Even in Brazil, where these laptops cost around 19 grand, the M2 Pro with the same specs is only 100 BRL more expensive on the same config (13″ display, 16GB of RAM and 512 GB storage. There are no 256GB models on the Brazilian front store).
Well put. Seems to summarise the whole situation brilliantly. Also probably highlights the marketing strategy at work. Start cheap, get everybody hooked on RISC and then start cashing in with higher margin machines.
I love these reviews so much! The research that goes into them and the candid opinions that often go against Apple are much appreciated. I can’t wait to see more of these this Tech-tember!
Mate, I really love the fact that you’re neither fanboying nor hating. A voice of reason and nuance. Wish more people were like you!
Well said.
Spot on re: the keyboard. It’s not as good. It’s not *bad*, but side by side, you can tell the difference easily.
Apple could have just priced it like the M1 and it would have been a frickin triumph in mobile computing. Instead its price point makes it this weird middle child with a stagnant price to performance value.
