I hate you. Your neutral, but positive, but negative take on all of Apple’s stuff is so non-fanboy, it actually makes me want some more of their stuff.
I got the M2 Air with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. I absolutely agree with your conclusions, regarding the do not buy, especially since you can get a 16GB Air for less money than a base M2 Air. 16GB is far more impactful in day to day tasks, and significantly increases the usable lifespan of a computer even if you’re not yet maxing out the 8GB offered.
Personally I had a very niche use case for the MacBook Air, which made the M2 Air the best option, However, if I needed it as my only computer I would have absolutely bought a 14″ M1 Pro and never even considered the M2 Air
Best AD ever.
just bought an m2 air lmao 😭
I come to this channel to hear your perspective. And your perspective, as usual, is 100% on point. Great video, Quinn!
That’s a very fair review. I wanted the m2 MBA, but it looks like I’ll purchase the 14” MBP instead.
Love the sponsor segment lol, and also the linusshrine shoutout
In the end of the video, you forgot to say “yet” because by next year Apple might discontinue the M1 MacBook Air and lower the price of the M2 MacBook Air, the same scene found in between the 2017 and 2018 MacBook Air back in the butterfly keyboard days.
Literally the best review about the M2 Air. Excellent work Quinn!
Totally agree. I have a 16GB / 1TB M1 MBA and I see no reason to upgrade and wouldn’t recommend anyone buy this. Either a base M1 MBA makes sense, or it makes sense to get a 14” MBP.
If I hear another person say thermal throttle
My company gave me a M1 MacBook Air recently. I love it. I am going to retire in about a year. When I have to buy my own laptop, I’ll buy a MacBook Air, whether it’s M2 or M3. I won’t grind on all this crap. I’ll buy it and use it and I know I’ll love it.
Who doesn’t know the struggle of having to carry your lttstore water bottles to your Linus shrine… every day bro!
This just makes me really happy I bought the M1 MacBook Air last year instead of waiting, now I’ve already had a year with this great laptop that’s still a great choice today
I watched your video in 1080 and I also saw these weird compression things.
Too bad Apple won’t make a true 2 in 1 design like The Surface. An m2 powered tablet with removable keyboard and a real OS not iOS would be nice. Something that you can run virtual machines with and do real work with. I don’t want to own our have 2 devices
Waited a year for M2 and then the launch came. I can only consider the base model. The SSD issue is a real turnoff and also the price. I miss the MagSafe, but very happy to be typing this on a new M1.
This is without a doubt the BEST M2 MBA review summary presentation recommendation I have watched. After the Apple Keynote I was excited and ready to buy the new M2 MBA. As always, waiting to see what is really under the hood is my standard practice these days as I have learned Apple is more enthusiastic than upfront.
Thanks to the Max Tech tear down I was cautiously slowed down from pre-ordering the MBA.
IF there was any doubt about not buying the new M2 MBA regardless of configuration, this video has closed the case. I am NOT buying any M2 MBA in any configuration. Simply put, the value is not there for me. I will happily continue to use my base M1 MBA.
I never comment on videos but THANK YOU for comparing it to the i9 32GB MBP in your testing
Please heed his advice. DO NOT buy base MBP or MBA m2. Horrible device that can’t even handle basic office work.
