Honestly Quinn, the best review I have seen. I was waiting for it since the initial tweet. Very well said. However, there is something i would like to say. A macbook air, is an entry level laptop in the apple world and while this is the case, it is still a very capable machine. who is the target audience? People upgrading from older an older macbook, yes – but, imo apple wants to get non mac os users into the ecosystem. I, myself am an apple “fan”, i like their products. I have an iphone, ipad, watch, homepods, airtags, airpods. What i am missing is a mac machine. This machine is for people like me. And you, youtubers always compare apples to apples but the thing is, we don’t all have apples. I have a desktop PC (mid level one) and this laptop is going to beat my desktop in every aspect you can think. That’s why i know this laptop is perfect for me and people like me. This machine will not be bought by someone who needs a MBP, those people know what the need and why. In fact my config (10core gpu, 16 ram, 512 ssd) is just 150$ less than M1 pro MBP, but guess what, i don’t care. I had the option and i though, for my usage is okay if it throttles for 20′ every month when i try to export raw photos. The other 29 days it will be perfect. All while being more convenient to live with and carry around. That’s what this laptop is, and who it was made for.
Thanks!
Nice writing Quinn!
love your videos as always Quinn
This channel just keeps getting better.
I got a refurbished 14” MBP with a 500€ discount from retail price in Spain. It had 3 battery cycles.
agree
The back to school sale with education discount ($100 off plus a $150 Apple gift card) made me choose the M2 Air (16/512) over the 14in Pro. But without that discount yeah the value proposition is tricky
Great review! For me, the biggest negatives for the M2 are the lack of Thunderbolt 4 for multiple displays and pricing. If we got TB4 outputs for the extra cost, sure..but combine the higher cost and TB3 ports?? I’ve been thinking about using the M2 Air to replace my 2018 Mac Mini but I need to run dual 4K displays for my studio. For now, it looks like the 14″ MBP is the better option. My fiance just got the M2 Air and she loves it. For her, it will work fine since she never connects an external monitor and only needs it to do basic stuff (no video, photo, audio editing). She rarely ever plugged in anything into her i5 MB Air but what a difference in performance! The i5 Air was soooo slow.
You’re spot on dude, as almost always. Best balanced review I saw so far! And thanks for the laugh, that Linus Shrine had me giggle ;).
Absolutely nailed the review. This guy is just so fucking good in addressing lots of aspects other tech reviewers failed to address. Convinced myself to get an airpods max recently because of his exceptional review. Keep up the amazing work!!! 🔥
what was that outro song?
If you take that 1.7k pro to the checkout it turns to a 2k purchase dude. While you can go through the education store grab the air m2 with 16gb/512gb for 1590.
Great review – I really love your nuanced take on the M2. That said, I just got an M2 Air. For me, the upgrades over the M1 were worth it. Plus, I had an Intel Air (Retina), so same body style, so I felt like something a bit newer. An extra couple hundred bucks wasn’t a deal breaker. Otherwise I’d agree, the M1 air is a solid option.
Speaking of the Intel-based Air – holy crap what a difference this M2 is over the Intel version from 2018. No brainer for anyone still on the Intel-based machines.
LOVE the ltt water bottle
I follow a few apple review channels, this is by far my favorite. Quinn gives a really nice summary of both sides of the reviews for new machines. I bought the m2 MBA at the 10/16/1tb config and for me, it’s absolutely wonderful. I’m not editing 8k videos, or playing video games. It got warm when I set it up, but hasn’t moved beyond ‘cool’ since then and I absolutely love it and don’t regret a thing. I use it for video chats frequently and it still doesn’t get warm. For the everyday normal consumer grade user. I would absolutely recommend this machine.
Quinn and everyone at snazzylabs thank you for consistently putting out quality content.
The price difference is even bigger in europe. Here, the Macbook Air M1 costs 950€ while the nee one is 1499€ (Amazon pricing). This is a 550€ price difference, for what you can get an Ipad mini or what ever.
Loved that Queen referenced Quinn! 😉
This is apples way to push its still existing m1 MBA or the 14″mbp. Its really that simple. Just skip it
You nailed it!! One of the best M2 MacBook Air review so far, sweet, to the point!
That sponsor segment was amazing. The video review was also great too!
