Looking to get a new MacBook after 12 years of being with my current one. I absolutely love the new MacBook Pros but not sure if I should get one now or wait for the M2 Pro/Max version to drop. And my still stuck between the 14 and 16. Any thoughts anyone? I’m also looking at the new M2 MacBook Air. I might just snag one of those for now, and for school and traveling, then get a pro for work and video editing later. 💻
I trust your battery life is worse now than 6 months ago but how can you jump to conclusion it’s due to battery degradation? You can check battery health/wear levels and you can also monitor your power usage in real time to see if you have some spikes due to unoptimized software.
(Gold standard) love your videos
Nice review. Youo just pointed out the things which are interesting without losing yourself in techdetails. Keep up the good work!
Gold standard. 👍🏾
My MBP 13 (2018) shuts down sometimes too, but didn’t get the issue once on MBP 14” 🤔
is m1pro macbook pro 14 1tb ? good for streaming using mirrorless camera streaming in 4k ?
So when is the M2 Pro chip coming out?
If they make a 17′ then im sold
@Gold Standart”
Is it worth to buy at this time (12.06.2022) buy this one or it is better to wait for M2 14?
Same 14″ MBP – same specs 10/16/16/1TB and have noticed the same battery life issues. Similarly, I keep mine plugged in (with optimized battery charging), most of the day and unplug overnight, while in sleep mode. My Battery Health is 100% and only have 29 cycles (purchased in November 2021). Performance has not been an issue, at all.
You said you have it docked all day long… fully charged is the enemy of all lithium ion batteries. Just get AlDente.
Andrew, great video! (gold standard) just found your channel and have subscribed.
I got my MBP 14inch this week. Opted for 32G RAM and 1TB SSD.
I am very impressed with it, and totally agree with the points you have made. 1080P should be the standard for cameras now in laptops (remote working etc), and the video quality from the camera is amazing.
Glad to hear that you took it abroad with no issues; I am travelling overseas in a couple of weeks and planned for this to be my travel laptop. It’s the perfect size in my opinion, not too big; not too heavy.
The extra screen real estate is awesome when working on documents, and I am glad to have MagSafe back too. I am quite happy with the HDMI as I can just easily connect my MBP to my TV when I want to project a video onto the big screen.
Gold Standard. Thanks for the info
Sounds like typical apple to me ! Buy our laptops million hour battery life few months later battery health 3% ! they did it with the iPhone doesn’t surprise me here ! they look at it as we’ll replace the battery for you for $million dollars or buy a new laptop ! Tim crook sitting there tickling his b**ls and raking it in !
Got to see what the M2 air has in store for battery life but so far I think I am going that direction. It seems like they want to actually use the Pro name for pro use again and have performance over battery life for those while the air has battery life over performance.
What’s the battery like for everyone with the MBP 14″ M1 Pro? And by battery I mean with light use continuously like web browsing, etc.
Is it absurd to get a 14″ model with a m1 max chip instead of the m1 pro?
Helpful thank you. I’m torn as a beginner developer. And occasional blogger .. M2 air or used 14” MacBook 💻
Considering swapping my 2020 mbp i7 for the 14″ m1pro but will be in clamshell mode 75% of the time. Would enjoy less fan noise, better screen, smooth power and more future proof. Worth it?
