God standard, I’m thinking of getting this exact model, I’m not a power user, and was thinking to get this one and save money instead of getting the 32gb of ram,

Thanks for the review. One question, I would assume the Mac Studio would be a better match for someone that was doing a lot of video work with an external monitor. Did you consider one of those?

Great review, picking up one tomorrow from Best Buy. Replace my mid-2014 MB Pro. 16 gigs is fine my tasks
I’m waiting for M2 Macbook Pro 16″ Ultra!
Great review! Out of curiosity, which app do you use to train typing (at 11:05)? Thanks!
Hi! Which configuration do you consider to have the best benefit/price ratio among the following:
– MacBook Air M1, 8Gb/256/ 1000$
– MacBook Air M1 16Gb/2TB/ $1570
– MacBook Air M2 8Gb/256/ $1320
– MacBook Air M2 8Gb/512/ $1730
– MacBook Pro 14inch M1Pro 16Gb/512/ $1980 Prices are from Europe.
I want to use this laptop for at least 6-7 years and I want to configure it as correctly as possible.
Thanks!
Hi, where did you buy that macbook stand?

I’ve been looking at getting a base m1 pro macbook with 1tb storage and no other options, and this video was incredibly insightful. I haven’t seen a video as critical as this one yet, they’re usually all praise. Regardless, it will be an upgrade from my 2015 5k imac minus the screen size, resolution, speakers, and USB-A, but my external SSD is USB-C, I don’t really use the speakers all that much, and the 4k screen on the 16 inch mbp is probably the best combo of color accuracy, refresh rate, and resolution out there for the money anyways which as a photographer and videographer who can’t afford a Pro Display XDR is most important to me anyways.
Yes. I own a MacBook Pro M1 Pro base line and YES. It runs out of battery VERY fast IMO. I’m a video editor and now it became my 1st computer, and regardless I don’t agree about is something thaaaat bad, I honestly was expecting a better performance on it. But it charges that fast that I do not have problems. Nevertheless, I do think that the battery will decrease its performance in the next few years, what are your thoughts guys? Love to read you!
Thanks for this awesome video. The keyboards between the 13 and 14 inch are different. What’s the difference between the 2 keyboards?

Thanks! I am experiencing the same issues with my brandk new new MacBook 14″ and also a number of other glitches with the laptop such as USB stick corruption, network, Wi-Fi and I/O port issues and Final Cut pro Library files being severely corrupted and backup Library files completely disappearing! as well as other files becoming corrupted and unreadable, that don’t bode well for a new device. There were also a number of OS System and FCP updates that came through just before the the FCP Library file corruption issues but I suspect it’s a hardware issue, possibly involving drive corruption.
After watching your video I am going to return the new MacBook as it’s a good reminder of one of the main reasons I stopped doing media production. (Too much time invested in chasing broken hardware and software along with broken client for the return on investment), and forgo getting back into content production as a serous effort, as the time and money I’ve spent trying to update to a “New and Improved” device and software has been ten times what it should have been, and I’ve only just started.
It seems the old trench of obsolete vs bleeding edge has not have ended, and after being left hanging by Apple on Two MacPro Desktops and two MacBook Laptops, I’m inclined to downgrade back to my 5 year old Intel-Nvidia laptop workstation as it’s more reliable and gets the job done better and with less headaches without additional cost with less stress.
my macbook is working excellently and with super battery!
FWIW, the only “clamshell mode” issues I’ve had with mine is slowness to wake up from external Apple BT keyboard—sometimes I have to open the lid to get it to wake and reset the video output. It also seems to really hate switching between external displays of varying resolutions—artifacts in Photoshop (I blame Adobe), and general app slowdowns requiring app relaunch or sometimes Mac restart. Everything else — smooth sailing after 15 months.
