Nope, students, don’t make the mistake of buying an overpriced computer. Buy a $500 or less notebook for school and save the money for books, food or even just to have less loan later. If you keep your finances lean now you won’t be buried by debt you’re have trouble escaping for the rest of your life. Unless you can con Mom or Dad into buying you one of course. And don’t think I just hate Macs, I’m typing this on an M2 Air.

My Legion 5 literally will dunk on anything apple will release for the next 3 years lmao and its a year old already lmao and it cost me 1k.

Most people should buy a refurbished base model M1 Macbook Air for $850 and then use the savings to purchase a $300 thunderbolt dock which they can keep for their next laptop when they sell their M1 in the future. It provides greater value/savings and forever solves the no-ports problem. Apple did not release the M2 because the world needed it, they released it because a marketing team decided it would be profitable for the company.

MagSafe on the new Air, may free up one out of the two type-c ports on your Mac. But I still wish they had just given me four type-c, two on each side and nothing else. MagSafe was amazing back when all manufacturers had their own propriety standards, for the simple reason that Apple had the best propriety charging port. But now where all my equipment, except from my iPhone(btw shots out to EU) Can be charged with a type-c cable. Then I really think Apple should have left MagSafe in the grave. I really believed we were all over this propriety charging cables mess, where one can not borrow eachother’s chargers because each manufacturer has their own standard. And yes! you can still charge it with type-c, but what good is that, when your colleague only has a MagSafe cable with her that I may borrow. A cable nat only works with a MacBook. EU, please help Apple!…

I was checking out the price of used MacBook Pro 16 i9 with dedicated graphic cards, the screens are beautiful, and the prices are lower than the m2 air.

Purchased the M1 Macbook for the wife and the Macbook M1 Pro for me. She’s a student and occasionally works remotely. I’m a software developer. Both machines will do us well for years to come.

honestly the thing I do like the most about the m2 is the MagSafe that’s all the wedge design on the m1 was way nicer imo it gave it a slick design like it actually means air

I don’t think the slowness there has everything to do with the thermal envelope differences between the M1 & M2 Air, the slower SSD might be bottlenecking the system not allowing the M2 to write the exporting file as fast as it actually can. Also Snazzy Labs’ M2 MBA review discovered that the M2 Air actually throttles less than the M1 Air, at least in a 15-20 minute span.
