Got a new MacBook Pro (13″, 2020) M1 for 1000 USD 3 weeks ago. I’m really happy with my choice 😍
I got an m1 pro but tbh I don’t need it.. lol.. It’s nice to know that if I needed to do that work I could though
The base model M2 MBA is 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Edit: I went after what I want (the M2 MBA), not what I need (M1 MBA). I’m sure that M1 MBA is more than enough for me, but I still got the M2 Air.
I own the old M1 MacBook Air, and I gotta say it’s still quite capable in 2023, barring some mild overheating and storage constraints. It runs Spleeter, UVR and similar vocal demixing programs basically blazing fast, and also respectably runs tools like Stable Diffusion and more importantly bioinformatics tools that use machine learning, quite respectably. The games that DO run, run quite well, and quite a few still run at almost native framerate and resolution with Crossover or Parallels. I find myself reaching for my MacBook more often than my iPad in class, just because it’s much more convenient. And as for music, I can use my DAW (Studio One 6) with 10 layers of Serum VST maxed out, and it barely breaks a sweat. I only wished Valve would incorporate MoltenVK so that I can at least play lesser-known JRPGs that I bought, with all my save data intact. But despite all the compromises I love it to bits. In fact, seeing your video from my main account was what prompted me to get it in the first place ❤
That chip in M2 gets degraded even more if you have the model with 8GB ram and you’re doing some demanding work since memory swap just dumps everything on the ssd and of course if ssd dies, the laptop is junk
I have had the MacBook Air m1 basic model 2020 since January 4, 2023. I really think it’s a great laptop!! battery can last a whole day (probably can last longer if I don’t use it all day, but because of vacation I now watch videos, etc.) I was hesitating between the MacBook Air m1 and m2 (both basic models) the The reason I bought the m1 and not the m2 is because I don’t need the new features of the m2. the m1 is sufficient!! So anyone who is doubting between m1 and m2 air just choose the m1 model, at least you save money! save even more money? just choose the basic model is really sufficient don’t listen to all those youtubers who recommend a more expensive configuration. only buy a more expensive configuration if you think you need more storage etc. I am satisfied with the base/standard configuration/model.
hope this help you.

I’d wait for the Air M3 personally.
I’d like to see iPads (with M1 chips) run full MacOS as well.
I upgraded from a 2017 air to a 2022 M2 Pro and I’m loving it, I’m a college student too
Great video, and I’ll say that if you want a new Mac m1, just wait for a Christmas, back to collage, or Black Friday sale and you’ll save a hundred dollars, plus get a good value gift card and/or AirPods etc.
That’s what i call a blackbook
M1 is so much better for the price
m1 air fresh is 800$ and below now.
I still get blown away by the SSD situation with Apple products. You pay so much and get too little in return.
8:26 would yall stand with 1200 in your hands next to water? LOL
Students? Which students have money in this time
this thing can run on macos, but it will run 1 fps
So basically I think the m1 is overal better when keeping price in mind
I can assure you, students mostly don’t have a $1000+ lying around to spend on a frigging laptop, professionals buy this Macbook for more portability.
and honestly as a programmer, I’m intrigued by it, but the slow SSD is a deal breaker for me, Apple sometimes suck.
PS. just to clarify, I was talking about the M2 model
Students, buy thinkpad
What bag are you using?
