Can M2 MacBook Air play WarThunder?
I just got my new M2 MBA in silver. So far, it is great. 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is the minimum configuration I’d recommend. I could have been very happy with the M1 MBA, but it is nice to have the brighter screen and MagSafe.
I opted for a 14″ MBP, simply because you get a better screen, more ports, fast SSD and more performance. The price difference wasn’t wide enough to make me consider the MBA
still easy. get M1 Air.
if you needed to get upgraded versions/pro then you already know it. if you didn’t know which model you needed to get, M1 air.
Absolutely flawless. Loved this!
Quitting a benchmark just cuz the laptop says it’ll take five hours? pfff
My (already at the time) old gaming laptop would take 7 hours to stitch some pictures together in Lightroom, I just had to leave it alone all day and hope it didnt crash – but in the end I did have a really nice panorama 😉
other channels : oh YEAH video editing brrrt final cut vegas pro PRO OR MAX?
this channel : regular use cases examples & special cases / heavy tasks
i hate the other ones just trying to see if it’s good for them and giving an advice on what most people will not use it for (editing their vlogs woohooo me too right… right? i’ll do that?)
since the 2018 air the fan wasn’t connected to the cpu cooling it didn’t have a radiator and i am a tab closer iseless tabs get automatically closed workin on a software problem on a phone at max 5-6 tabs usually 1 or 2 tabs open
I really like how Mark Rathgeber shoots these videos. It’s different than what I’m used to from Edzel and in my opinion greatly compliments the type of voice they are trying to project with this channel.
I personally despise Apple and will NEVER buy an Apple product so long as I shall live, but this channel is art and I love it. This is THE Apple channel for non-Apple guys!
can anyone tell me what temperature monitoring tool showing on the menu bar?
Still going with 2012 15inch Macbook Pro Retina. I dont use those high tech video editing, only basic stuff included with MACOS. and use for mostly general use and sometimes dabble in Finale for music creating. the first worthy upgrade I would get is a 16inch Macbook PRo M1PRo, but as i said, my workload doesnt push so only missing out on latest MAC OS. i can deal with that until my workhorse decides to die.
I got the M1 air when it first released and have no plans to replace it with the M2. I’ve been a PC die-hard for years but just couldn’t ignore the value I was getting with the M1. Literally blows out every other laptop in its price range. The M2, on the other hand, is a bit of a disappointment. The value proposition just isn’t great at all. Only thing it has over the M1, in my opinion, is magsafe. But honestly, if you’re coming from the M1, you’re already living the dongle life and most dongles have passthrough for charging. So in that reality, you’re actually not taking away any ports.
Totally agree. In fact if you go beyond the base M1 MacBook Air, you can get a refurbished one with 512 GB storage and the 8 core GPU for $1,059 from Apple, which is $140 less than the base M2 Air with half the storage and only 1 NAND clip which makes the drive slower.
As a lifetime android + windows user, I recently switched to Mac + ios like a month ago and I’m loving the experience. I’m a filmmaker and for the heavy work, I have my pc but for most of my day to day task and light video editing, I’m absolutely loving my M1 air and the iPhone is fine albeit a bit limited….
My advice (as always) is to buy enough RAM to comfortably contain your workload, and _don’t_ count on magically quick virtual memory.
After that, buy enough SSD to populate both NAND slots for faster I/O performance.
These machines – 13″ MacBook Pro and Air – are not for heavy creator workloads – they’re targeted at Harry in accounting or Tim in legal or Sally the student – they’re designed as lightweight computers for normal computer users: office apps, web surfing, the applications that you normally find in offices, with enough oomph to satisfy Harry or Tim or Sally’s aspirational goals like light photo or video editing _without_ breaking the bank.
Unlike when MacBooks were running on Intel, you _don’t_ have to buy waaayy up in the lineup to get that aspirational power – which will save the normal computer user lots of cash.
For normal office users these computers will accomplish just about any task they normally do – and do it quietly (without fans blaring) with great battery life, great portability, and snappy performance.
For creators and those who run sustained or heavily multithreaded workloads, there’s always the heavier duty MacBook Pros which blow away their older Intel counterparts at about the same price. My 32 GPU core M1 Max 16″ MacBook Pro runs workloads my 2019 16″ core-i9 couldn’t _think_ of accomplishing and does it quietly with great battery life, a gorgeous XDR display, and nice webcam and great audio. The quality of life improvements are astounding considering there’s only two years difference between the two.
No longer do I have to haul around a backpack with dongles and a power brick – these new Apple Silicon Macs will pretty much run all day without having to be plugged in due to their increased efficiency. Now I just carry around my MacBook in a leather sleeve because the thermal envelope of these machines is so much more reasonable – you escape the energy trap of pushing up clocks to get enough performance (exponentially increasing heat) and furiously running fans to cool them down and keep ‘em from burning up.
Oh … and yeah. Get the silver 😅.
I’d for sure have a workload long enough for that. I do industrial design and often make renders and other longer during projects. With the short high speed endurance it means I should most likely be going for the macbook Pro with m1pro or max cpu. The extra screen size would be nice for me anyway. I prefer larger laptops.
anyone else constantly scared about someone dropping an expensive device standing right next to a lake. when someone holds a laptop like this i get anxiety
