I remember once upon a time, I used to actually like Apple and the products they made, and lightning was far superior to the garbage micro USB Android had at the time, so I bought an iphone 5s as my first smart phone….. Used it for around 4 or 5 years, replaced the battery, display, charging port and speaker myself, and its still usable to this day. Once type C started being standard on all Android phones, I no longer had a reason to be stuck inside Apple’s terrible ecosystem and terrible desktop app (itunes on windows), and I swapped to an Essential PH-1. The one and only thing I missed was the snappiness of the camera app….. Which, one phone later (Asus ROG Phone II), I still kind of miss, as all Android camera apps seem sort of clunky to me. But that’s a small price to pay to not support anti consumer practices, software locks, proprietary slow charging, low speed charging ports (Yes, lighting is STILL USB 2.0, ew)

iphone 5 was my first iphone ever. a year later i bought iphone 6 because i lost my iphone 5. used it for 5 years then i upgrade to iphone 12 pro max early this year.

chart nerd here. Worth normalisnig the price based graphs to take into consideration $ inflation which over these time scales can effect the perceived difference when in reality there not that far apart in some cases.

You missed one of the biggest features of the iPhone 5S – it was the first 64-bit cell phone. ARM had released their 64-bit version of the ARM architecture, and Apple released the 5S in a *VERY* short time after. None of the Android CPU vendors had even started sampling 64-bit CPUs to Android phone makers by the time Apple was shipping the 5S.
