I think/hope we are still years away from a portless phone. My 2020 Rav still needs me to plug in to use car play or android auto. So I cannot imagine many cars are wireless so it would be insane to drop a phone that is portless. Not to mention having to transfer files. Especially prores video which is expecting to be massive.
Plus if they ditch the port a lot of their “vlogger” market will disappear. As a windows user a port is much appreciated 😂. So if they ditch the port I’ll spend my money on a dedicated vlog camper with an SD card.
But I’m sure they will have some fancy accessories they can sell to get around this.

Makes me wish YouTube had 32X playback like XBMC back in the day.

What about the Danger HipTop? (aka the T-Mobile Sidekick) Many of its developers split, with a good chunk going to Apple to work on iOS, and another chunk following Andy Rubin to Google to create Android.

Travis “geist” Geiselbrecht departed Danger and went to Apple, and after doing hardware bring up and such quit a week before the iPhone was announced, claiming it was the worst company for which he had ever worked. He later went on to work at Palm on the Pre. He also worked on BeOS, and has his own OS called NewOS.

If you follow developers, rather than brand names, you will be able to acknowledge the real wizards behind the curtains. I could mostly care less about Apple. I could certainly care less about 33 iPhones.

No mention that the first iPhone lacked cut/copy/paste, paradigms which were in the first Macintosh in 1984, not to mention Engelbart’s NLS in the 1960s? The first iPhone felt positively rushed to market, and the only thing which was worse was when Microsoft reinvented the flat tire and copied some of those mis-designs with the Windows Phone, even though Windows Mobile, had cut/copy/paste.

Here we are, in 2021, and I sincerely hope no one sane actually owns every iteration of the iPhone. Even when I am paid to develop software and administer servers for huge corporations with Fortune 1->Fortune 25 clients, I don’t bring most of that crap home. Shovelware.
