Love the approach of reviewing products from a practical approach, not going overboard with synthetic benchmarks (which are sometimes cool to look at too) but only considering the real-life usecases.

This makes no sense from a business perspective. It eats into its own sales. It alienates a lot of past buyers. I’m not upset for having a 2020 Intel version. It works just fine for me and all that power just because “I could” isn’t such a motivating factor.

But what about those with maxed outs Pros or 16 inch versions? Who paid thousands of dollars more?

I think this is the first time in years when Apple does a move that makes their bottom line smaller. They’ve made a big part of their current SKUs obsolete. They’re also eating into the iPad sales. Now you have a MacBook that is better than an iPad Pro with keyboard, at technically a lower price, that will be able to run IOS apps. Why buy a high end iPad then? This is a great product for consumers but I feel it will bite them in the ass when they’ll lose sales from so many other product lineups.

They actually did upgrade the display which now supports P3 wide color gamut. This makes color correcting photos better.

My daughter in high school could not upgrade her MacBook Air 2015 256gb to Big Sur because she did not have enough free disk space. This time I got her 516gb M1.
