First of all the iPhone is not the gold standard because the Galaxy 20 has a better processor higher camera pixels and overall higher storage and ROM. How much is Apple paying you to promote their bullshit

iPhones are expensive, but they give you basically everything you’d need especially with the Pro models. Best camera, performance, speakers and software experience. Great battery, build and screens. Apple exclusive apps that (at least in the US) everyone uses. 5 years is OS and 7 years of security updates. Sure you pay a little more, but other than a small notch and 60hz on the non Pro models, you get everything you need at the top end of quality that will last at least 2 years longer than any Android phone. I still think, again in the US especially, you can’t really beat the iPhone. Plus with carrier deals, a lot of times you can trade in an old one and get the newest model for little to nothing.
