The new pricing makes me thankful that I purchased the M1 Macbook Air last December. At that time there were rumors that the M2 Air might launch in the March event and I was thinking of waiting, but eventually, I made the purchase when an offer was announced. There was this great deal where the M1 Air was discounted to 84K and with my HDFC card I could get a further 6K off which brought the price down to 78K. Now, seeing the same machine at 1 Lakh, I’m glad I made that decision.

I’m using M1 Macbook Air as of now which i bought around 80k January this year. I think even if i sell my current at around 70k to get new M2 at 1.2lac. i don’t think paying 50k extra for 10bit brighter display, slightly good speaker and overall chipset improvement is worth to spend 50k. I mean i spend 80k for whole machine and 50k extra for very little improvement isn’t that convincing to me.

I bought my M1 Air on 24th May (with the old pricing from Apple India website) and it is still in transit. Upgraded my RAM and SSD and the total cost came to the base variant of M2. I just feel if you save that extra money, you could spend that on the accessories instead. Also, I am a fan of their wedge design and all other laptops that I have used until now are box shaped. So, sticking to M1 which I could have cancelled and taken M2 but, it just didn’t make sense to pay that extra money.

I have to buy a macbook in the coming days and intend to use it as my daily device. No video editing stuff. Just basic computing. What I’m worried is the future proofing. Are the m1 laptops future proof and for how long?
Say, if I get an m1 these days, then till when can i expect support from apple.

I was thinking to wait for M2 when i bough M1 air, but later I bought Air M1 at 73000 with No cost 12 monts EMI, aroun 7k PM. I am happy that i dint wait for M2.

Excellent video! I was planning to upgrade from the base M1 Air to the base M2 Air due to MagSafe freeing up an extra port. But after analyzing all the points you have said, I feel I should probably wait until the next one or two cycles of Air upgrades where the difference between the M1 Air and the newer models become quite significant & cost justifiable.

Had a doubt,(someone pls help)
Iam going for college next yr for CSE, and currently have no prior coding experience.I am currently using a lenovo ideapad 500 -i5isk with i7 6th gen (16GB RAM) and a very weak amd radeon gpu. I am currently using it for only casual gaming and studies(web browsing) and is currently sort of slow.
Should I upgrade to a newer lap for coding or will the addition of an SSD be enough?Would probably use mostly for coding and entertainment content.
Or should I use the same with an SSD for 2 yrs and then get a new one.(probably m2 macbook)

We still have to wait for the sale price of new Macbook Air because the macbook air M1 is listed for 1 lakh on apple’s website and it is selling for 93k.

Hey Ranjit bhai actually M1 has 66GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and apple increase nearly upto 50% in M2 so 50% of M1 is 33%
66+33 = 99
Apple rounded it to 100GB/s

Obviously, m2 air does not make any sense if one has the m1 mba. That was at peak price to performance.

PS- if any one has a m1 air, can you please comment your Battery Health after x months?(Ranjit Sir I’ll be happy if you reply; Mine is at 99% after 8months).
