Although no Parallels/VMware type emulation software has yet been released for running Windows in emulation, CodeWeavers CrossOver has been confirmed working for Windows emulation for applications (thousands of programs will run, but not all, so YMMV) https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/18/run-windows-software-on-m1/

I was also expecting the revival of the 12″ Macbook. That would have been a perfect way to showoff the M1 in an extra compact design. Apple has hit a home run with M1.

Codeweavers posted a blog of their Crossover WINE software running Windows apps on the M1 already. Wine has been in use on Linux for years allowing users to run Windows games and apps and does not require a Windows install to work which is one of the coolest things about it. I think most people would be fine with the base model Air. When you spec it out, you’d be better off with the Pro. Thanks for the awesome review!

At what point (in how many months/years) will Apple require users to use all M1 native software and stop supporting Universal and Rosetta 2 applications? Last time they transitioned from PPC to Intel, how many years before PPC apps no longer ran on intel Macs with Rosetta 1? How many years before they stopped shipping universal apps and only started shipping intel only apps? This time around, how long do I have before my intel apps stops working via Rosetta 2 on my M1 Macs? How long before they stop universal apps and they start shipping only M1 native apps?

So it is quicker than a pc from 2016. The battery is great (duh its arm based) rosetta can be killed any moment (knowing Apple 600 days from now) and the rest is same as a previous version. Egpu’s don’t which the previous version does. Need i go on?
