I also love the 12″ it fits so much better on an airplane tray. Also, I’m a Professor and it’s perfect for going from room to room (when we are in person) and hooking up to the projector in the room. So light I need to double check it’s in my bag. I was so hopping they’d bring back the 12″ with the M1. This may be the final final final death of the 12″.

the tricky part in M1 is , its running arm version of os which is way lighter if we compare with regular OS you can say its kind of IOS desktop version + fastest SSD .

An amazing new era for Apple. Like Lon, I keep my kit forever, current unit is an early 2011 13 inch Macbook Pro, the new Mac Pro is arriving next week and the long wait is finally over. The crazy thing is four batteries later, upgraded hard drive and the current machine is still great. Okay, okay perhaps lightroom is getting very slow but for everyday use, the machine is still perfect, a real testament to the quality.

I think the 12 inch MacBook will be back in 2021 with a new design. Possibly could be the thinnest lightest cheapest Macbook ever. Will probably stick with the M1, while everything else announced alongside it gets bumped up to a beefier chip.

They might even go with a 2 in 1 touch screen now that iPhone apps are on Mac. But in that case it probably wont be the cheapest Macbook ever.

Apple was going on about how the iPad Pro is a laptop killer but then release a laptop so good that it is probably a better value proposition as a computer. Between this and the iPad Air, is Apple trying to cannibalize the iPad Pro?

Len can you please try setting up a plex server on the M1 equipped MacBook and let and load some 4K HRD movies and see how plex handles for transcoding 4K HDR On the M1 processor

the only reason i bought apple was to use bootcamp for native x86 at full speed , unless they figure that out, I’m done with apple. Pretty nice if your all apple but cant justify the cost if i can run windows apps at full speed.

Im not a Mac guy and haven’t had a Mac since like 2012. But this chip REALLY makes me wanna buy Macs again. The performance is absolutely crazy. So much so that Apple tax seems low.
