Dave Apple hasn’t jacked up the price because they removed the charging brick from the package, which is 20 dollars if you buy separately. So in a way, they jacked up their prices by $20 since iPhone 12. Which is not a lot, but is sneaky if you ask me.

I know the cameras have become very good, but seeing that shot of all the pro phones the past 4 years makes me yearn for that camera bump on the IPhone X. The 13 pros camera bump and cutout is pretty unsightly. I own one, but I can’t be the only one who thinks it looks ugly. 🤷‍♂️

The bill of materials (according to TechInsights) have gone up more than $200 since the iPhone X. Pretty interesting that they did not increase the price since then.

I’d argue that iPhone prices have actually gone up in the past 4 years. Price has gone up in the form of less accessories included in the box. 2 years ago $1,000 got you a phone, charging brick, and charging cable. Those 2 add ons cost about $30 I think? And there was a time when headphones were included. So you were paying for a full package – the phone itself wasn’t the price on the box. Today all you get is the phone, so the price yiu pay truly is just for the phone alone. If apple had continued to sell the full package, I bet the price would be raised to about $1,100. Along with that mental $1,000 pricing ceiling, there’s other clever pricing psychology at work.

I completely disagree that phones don’t need high refresh rates. For everyday use, it makes a BIG difference. A 60Hz phone feels so damned sluggish, 120Hz feels natural. Your phone is where you do a shit tonne of scrolling and even something as simple as sliding around your homepage, it feels slow as fuck with a 60Hz display.
