Damn man another solid video topic. I can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers with all these banging videos coming out on a channel people subscribed to for programming videos.
I’m going into computer science this year and was wondering if you, (or anyone), thinks this would be a great pickup. I’m also considering changing into computer engineering so do you think it’d be fine if i were to switch? Hope anyone can help!
It’s interesting to see this from your perspective, since in a very short period of time Kalle has gone from a Windows laptop, to an XPS with Linux, to a Mac Pro M1, and that’s just what I’m aware of. I’m curious to know whether you’d prefer to see an M1 based device with Linux, or even maybe with Windows, in the future? How much of the secret sauce is Apple’s hardware design? I have a Clevo that’s silent, cool, can do any task I want it to and has 15-25 hour battery life on Linux (never less than 12 hours) — and cost a fraction of a Mac Pro. Wonder what might happen if we start seeing M1 Hackintoshes, or if support for the M1 will never leave the Apple ecosystem.
Second gen ARM Macs will be where its at, better performance and quell any I/O speed or Bluetooth issues.
Also, more ports, going all Type-C can be done, but 2 ports on each side please.
passing from a 15 inch to de 13 inch must feel so tiny, i like mabooks and all that stuff, but I still feel de display very tiny for programming
The MacBook Pro has been a great machine for me, never had my fans turn on since I bought it. One issue I had is with the WiFi connectivity, which was easily fixed with a reboot. I still need to drag my windows PC around to run certain programs but I’m really hopeful that more apps will get a ARM version and Windows on ARM will be finally fully backwards compatible with x86. Most shortcuts in MacOS are easy to reach and to remember, and spotlight search is so much better than the Windows search tool. I was worried I wouldn’t know how to navigate MacOS but it has been very user friendly.
This channel rocks, it’s like a lifestyle/coding video that makes for light but usually informative viewing. Hits a good spot. Keep it up, the subs will just keep coming.
Has the battery life gone down much compared to Day 1? Also, how long does it take to fully charge from 0 – 100%?
Anyone else here having problems running EMR scripts locally?
nice long term review…i own MBP 16 gig and 512 ssd…its awesome 🤩
I think M1 is revolutionary for mobile computing, the king of performance per watt. That being said, was quite put out by the fact that it meant no more dual booting Linux or Windows. As a tinkerer and hacker in training, I need that added flexibility. I don’t like needing to rely on VMs for important parts of my work, and the fact that Windows x86 is simply out of the question was upsetting. I guess, there are limits as to what we can do at this point.
Sadly, some of these limitations are creeping into Windows laptop world as well. The introduction of TPM 2 and Secure Boot requirements in Windows 11 make a Linux participation and dual boot much less feasible. It appears I will just have to get comfortable with VMs and WSL. I simply cannot afford to ditch Windows all together 🤦🏻♂️
Please don’t put the laptop on your leg
It’ll be a problem for testis
My M1 Pro is awesome.
Is 8GB enough for a macbook air m1 ? Mainly doing symfony/laravel development but also have an angular admin app that ng serve can eat a lot of ram. Also phpstorm uses around 1GB for the java virtual machine.
This is such a cool channel, SUB right away
Hi there im interested in buying macbook pro, but im still waiting for apple event, do u think i should wait or buy the current macbook
I can’t update my m1 pro, also I can’t turn on safe mode. But that have to be some random errors I need to fix, still I don’t like a lot of things with macos that are by idea, it’s silly that they just develop the icon folders in dock, it’s super dumb that I have to install paid app for make separation between icons in menubar disappear, and list go on and go on.. You start to really recognize how good is Windows if it’s goes about personalising. But it’s fast, I got to admit that.
Jenkins still does not have an official docker image for an arm-based system(at this point I am just knit-picking).
Snapdragon would probably beat the Apple Silicon a few years from now. AMD and Intel would die.
Waiting for the 16 inch laptop. Cant stand the 13 inch
