I disagree with recommending this laptop. I have owned one for 7 months and is my only laptop… so I rely on it. And as a Software Developer, I would discourage someone from Soft Dev or Data Science fields to refrain from buying it for now. For example, there are hundreds of Python libraries that are simply not compatible with the M1 chip… some of them are basic libraries such as GeoPandas or Prophet… and using the emulator with Rosetta 2 won’t work despite what people say on the internet. Until recently, even Pandas wouldn’t work. With an Intel chip is easy peesy. I agree with the potential of the chip, it’s so fast, snappy and holds battery for ages, but if you priority is getting work done over fast, snappy or battery… then get an Intel chip for now. It will save you massive headaches. Trust me.

I’ve returned it, due to alot of lack of things on it’s store , videogames , is good only for music and movies, but for gaming is not worth it so much money.

I have 1 week in with MBA M1 8Gb.
As an amateur programmer it’s been a great device for React Native development, only getting warmer whenever I’m running an emulator for Android or iOS.
With M1 I haven’t had the need to take a charger with me for the day when programming at school.

I use an M1 Macbook Air, my only regret is that I chose 8GB RAM. 16GB would have been nicer.

I would recommend this laptop for Developerment. It is my main dev machine able to handle docker and node js. I hope they make a 16Inch version. That extra screen real estate is needed.

I use macbook pro m1 16gb 512gb for graphic design its actually very powerful and doesn’t even blink im not a fan boy but apple really did a good job with the m1

I just bought my m1 pro for £655 from Amazon wearhouse deals as it has 30% off on almost products including the MacBook, however they usually go between £850-£1000 second hand
