It is sad, that you didn’t criticise Apple for soldering on SSD. The m.2 SSDs are super small and expensive ones are very fast, so Apple could have done that. The problem with flash storage is that it has limited read/write cycles and will go bad after a certain amount of time. MacOS also very agresivly does memory swapping from RAM to SSD, if you are low on RAM. I wonder how long it will take untill reports come out of dying laptops due to this reason.

From the pictures it looks like the battery of SLS should be easy to replace (crossing fingers its not glued).

Why not just add an M2 extra slot. That would be overkill pro. If you need exxxxtra performance, you buy more stock ssd, if you need just a bit more storage, you put a freaking NVME inside. Easy

What I would love in the future from apple is to make the battery even easier replaceable (screws), have removable ssd, make the keyboard more accessible. I understand with the integrated memory for the new processors so as long as you can get replacement logic boards that don cost an arm and a leg that ok.
