Modular storage on the laptop is not negotiable. Laptop is not a smartphone or a tablet, any serious work-oriented laptop should have at least one, better 2 m.2 sockets. Apple charges 2x-3x the price for storage, without the possibility for hardware-based redundancy and if something goes kaput on the machine (not even storage necessarily) you’re not getting that data back.

adhesive greatly simplifying battery replacement? no thanks, will stick to real laptops that are held by 4 screws and 1 battery cable

and what about upgrades ? like on my MacBook Pro 2012 I was able to upgrade the RAM and change my hard drive for a SSD ….. can we do that with this new MacBook Pro?

Barring any serious mechanical damage (i.e. from accidentally dropping or crushing the device), the only part that should ever need to be replaced is the battery.

Making the battery replaceable is so huge. I’ve had so many devices that were perfectly usable, that became unusable because of battery degradation, and an impossible battery replacement procedure. (Phones, surface tablets, etc.)

It would be nice to see upgradeable storage and memory, but I don’t think Apple is ever going to do that.

but the battery can be replaced and still works? or has a firmware locking it down to the original device? because the touch id and display panel *WON’T WORK* unless it’s changed and *RESERIALIZED* by apple! same goes for cameras, display, touch id in the latest iphones.
So what use is it that you have a notebook with modules the user can take apart if those modules are hard coded to NOT WORK on another notebook?
