You said you discuss M1 PRO Chip later but it didn’t happen.
Edit: well aside form other things that always bother me on a apple product repairability wise.
What heavilly impacted my opinion was the soldered ssd, theres just no justification for that, no matter what apple may come up with, ssds have limited usage, its not a matter of maybe, they will die eventually, such a component should always be swapable, the soc ram i can at least be understandable about it, but to swap whole motherboard kit just because storage went bad? Big nope for me.
Angry owl sounded like crying dog😂😂
Ugh – the consternation over the notch. I saw one at a local Best Buy and didn’t even thing about the notch until the person hovering over the laptop while I played with it mentioned it. And if it really bothers you there is at least one app that will shrink everything below the notch – but seriously it’s nice to have the extra screen real estate.
So while I wasn’t originally thrilled when I heard about it, after playing with a machine that had it and not even noticing it (and no, it doesn’t show in full screen video either!) for me it’s an utter non-issue. And if it does bug the crap out of you as I mentioned you can shrink the screen and permanently ban it.
My MacBook Air had 2 port failures, and then apple said it was because I was using a port hub. No warranty, no AppleCare, I’m out over a grand as they handed me back a failed laptop. Caveat Emptor anyone? 😵💫🤬
Awesome video! 👌
3:20…Just…😂
The use of on-package LPDDR5 has some fairly large implications on performance and battery life so I definitely think they can be given a pass for that, unlike some of their previous designs that used bog standard DDR memory. On the storage side it is a little bit more dubious, but there is no SSD controller on the mainboard so it does look like it’s integrated to the SoC as well. I too am a little bit less salty about the lack of modularity inside the machine this time around.
Now if only they were selling parts and publishing schematics.
I refuse to accept the necessity of a notch in a laptop display!
I can’t believe Apple are trying to force the notch down our throats STILL!
Those fan modules looks like?
Excellent video
pros need ports 😄
Apple making wires too short so when opening your macbook your screen will fail
Apple: isheep misusing their macbook
Apple: ok were getting a lot of critics, we will investigate
Apple: we are sorry after a long time
Apple: We are just being Apple
There’s no mention or demonstration about the keyboard and how to remove it, why?
Thanks for the video! Now you can throw it all in the trash! 😀
Where’s the apple cloth teardown I can’t find it.
Why not showing whats behind the Notch? It was the only thing I was interested in… :/
There are no sockets for lpddr5. You cannot get the same bandwidth without very short traces. The boot ssd is special, since the controller is integrated into the SoC for security reasons. So it’s not really easy to get an industry standard replacement.
None of this is new. Apple uses LPDDR for power savings. And you have USB4 for high speed expansion.
Repairable? Only if you can get the parts. The guts of these new machines is on an SOC that is only available from Apple. With the company’s anti-repair stance, I highly question whether these machines will be repairable at all. There is a huge real-world difference between being able to disasemble a computer and being able to fix it.
Perhaps iFixit should be removing points for lack of parts availability?
This is a massive step in the right direction! im glad apple finally admitted to there mistakes. its so rare nowadays
