Now hold on, on previous laptops I would agree about sottered memory, but show me a way to get ddr5 in a socket, short of making their own custom solution, I am not aware of a way they could’ve done it
Points should not be deducted for soldered memory in this case, it is justified 🙏
This level of performance AND efficiency is just not possible without memory on the package.
M1 Max has an 8 channel memory controller. Standard socketed memory would mean 8 x SODIMM slots – it’s not realistic. Even if it was, SODIMMs would drastically increase power consumption and ruin the incredible perf/watt. A fast memory system is key to making an SoC at this level work.
Alder Lake (Intel 12th gen) was eluded to as a possible challenger. IMO, it will not in any way compete with what Apple is doing. Alder Lake will be a bloated, incredibly inefficient family of processors that don’t even come close to competing with M1 Pro/Max on perf/watt, system bandwidth, GPU/ML performance, video encode/decode etc. Alder Lake will be a dinosaur by comparison as it continues the trend of leaning heavily on obscene boost clocks and power to achieve competitive performance (peak boost power of 215W for a mobile chip is crazy!). 🙏
Bringing awareness to repairability is admirable, hopefully it helps push companies back towards it.
Lol do a tear down on a Panasonic toughbook
0 repairability, once the SSD dies (it will die), the whole machine goes to the shitter.
Beautiful internal component
If the tight integration is absolutely necessary for the performance benefits, then making the CPU, RAM and GPU a single SoC may make sense. However, I don’t see this means that we should accept this at face value. The companies like Apple are seen as “innovators”. So if they care so much about the environment, they could very well challenge themselves and actually “innovate” to make a zero-insertion-force socket to change the SoC and provide repair / upgrade options. Even without the environment spin, those companies are valued at trillions now. They take so much value from the public and deliver little. We should be putting more responsibilities on them.
this sounds like a lot of [pulltab stretch sound]
Why is the battery divided into little sections?
I have a gut feeling that they will bring back expandable storage in the next generation of MacBook Pros. Fingers crossed 🤞
Nobody mind extra millimeter you say meanwhile some people jumping on this MacBook how thick is 😂 yeah sure people really don’t care alright
are you sure it looks like owl eyes? doesn’t it look more like uhh

> Apple adds millimetre to this model
> People freak out…
Seriously, the pull-tabs are a good compromise to adding additional thickness and weight
They stopped use USB-C power connector,,,,
improve the UK Store they dont care about sending out bad displays.
this video feels wholesome on my opinion.
Another great video.

Good you found a forbidden cheese inside a MacBook now
