True, i have 16 gb ram and 28-30% ram is permanently in use. Only 70% or like 11 gb ram is free, ridiculous. Brave browser, firefox, opera, open any of them, 800mb ram is gone instantly.

Why do you go for 32Gb, isn’t 16GB enough for M1 PRO ? I am in a dilemma, need to buy one asap…so please comment, I am inclined towards 16GB since it is 400$ cheaper…and 400$ is a lot of money, does the difference is really enough to be noticeable?

ok, here is a question following on your emphasis about the Pro vs the Max. For those of us who work with 4k files, say three streams in FCP, who overlay luts and transitions, and work every day at this, is it really your suggestion that we stick with the Pro? I have used 32gb 16″ MPB maxed out, and it was always fine, but in never want to see another beach ball, and I want Apple Motion and FCP, photoshop, etc to run as smooth as possible. Will the pro be sufficient? And the big question: is 16gb sufficient (because if I go for 32gb, I may as well upgrade to the Max for $200 anyway for the encoders/decoders). Price isn’t the main concern, but I don’t want to buy power I won’t even touch. It’s the RAM that is the pivot point on going max…, because once you hit 32, you are just $200 away!

Please give a review on the 14 inch model because it’s not getting attention on the reviews. Most youtubers are focusing on the 16 inch model M1 Max.

WOW was tpically around 60 fps on the M1 Macbooks, so an almost 3x performance jump is insane

Is 32GB enough for photo / video editing ? Or should I go for 32 GPU / 64GB RAM ?

I am a photographer / videographer whose main focus currently is wedding photo/video.
Most of the weddings I shoot have like 60-70 GB for photos alone.

I plan to get into editing ads, short films and also for coding.

Overall is a wonderful laptop, ofc it doesn’t have the “freedom” of windows, but you have an excellent class build quality, probably the best performance/watt ratio out there, the best quality display on a laptop and a support that will last for 5/6/7 years. Simply amazing.
