I am so stuck between holding off on buying or getting a macbook pro now. I don’t want to wait until the ARM macs come out just for them to be slightly better but im also worried that i’ll get one now and then they’ll be amazing xD

apple is definitely going to run into problems with their custom chips. at least for the first one or two years, until they perfect it. I just got the MBP 16″ a week ago and I LOVE it. everything is fluid and seamless, fans kick on when its necessary, and when they do its quiet. if you’re thinking about getting it, I’d say go for it. theres some pretty good deals going on and I got my base model one for $2,099.

So do you bilieve that the base model with i7 6core with 32GB of ram is a good choice for webdevelopoing and some time video editing , photoshop and graphic design?

I like the touch bar when I’m editing music in audiowave or adobe audition. I just bought this 16 inch model with the 550 and i9 with a 1tb ssd… (I love this laptop!)

I don’t have a Macbook. I don’t have a laptop. I have been planning on getting the Macbook Pro 16”. Do you think it’s a viable option for me to buy it now and sell it and buy an ARM one

I’ll disagree with you on the SD card slot for video professionals. Most video professionals are shooting 4K, 6K, 8K, and even 12K now with Blackmagic’s new camera. They are NOT using SD cards, especially if they are recording RAW to an external recorder. CFExpress and SSDs are what professionals are using, not SD. So putting an SD card slot in a MacBook Pro, or any laptop for that matter, is moot for video professionals. As a photographer, it would be nice, since my Sony a7 III uses SD cards. For me personally, it’s not necessary, even though my 2013 15″ MBP has one. I bring my iPad Pro with me to photoshoots, I immediately transfer my photos to the iPad after a shoot using a UHS-II USB-C card reader.

I just upgraded to the 16″ MacBook Pro from an old iPad Pro 12.9″ . I was considering staying with the iPad, but it just has too many limitations in areas that are important to my work. A serious discount on the MacBook Pro made the decision easier. After a couple of days, I still find my fingers sometimes “heading toward the screen”, but overall enjoy the bigger screen, keyboard, trackpad, and ease of use. this computer is a “home run”.

Enjoyed watching your video. I want to get the 16 inch MBP however, I’ll probably wait because of the following: no SD Card, still using a 720p Webcam, the Touch Bar (don’t want it!!), and last, battery life (want 12 hours not 8-10).

I was in the same dilemma. I made up my mind about two weeks ago to get my hands on my very first Mac computer – a 16” MacBook Pro. I love it.

From what I’ve heard, ARM based Macs won’t be supporting Windows thru BootCamp, and to me that’s almost a necessity. I’ve also heard that it’ll take some time for third party software to adjust to the new ARM chips. Therefore, I bought the MacBook Pro now instead of waiting for the 2020 version since we don’t know what will be in it.

The design on ARM MacBooks aren’t going to dramatically change. There won’t be much difference.

I say buy the intel based MacBooks now, I feel like it’s better to be safe than sorry.

According to some reviews there seems to be some issues with the 10th gen intel chip on MBP 13”. Dont know if only some face the issue or is it a common issue. Was planning to go for the specced out 13” but now think I’ll go for the 16”. 8 months is nothing for a good mac… my current 13” MBP is a 2012 model, that’s a good 8 years old machine! So better go for the 16” if you planning to upgrade the 13” base model and also I think better go for the tried and tested current 16” 9th gen intel processor model.
