I have a stonking maxed-out Alienware Area-15 R2. It’s basically a chonky desktop replacement. it has a 10-core i9-10900K (desktop CPU), an nVidia RTX2080 Super (desktop-equivalent GPU) and 32GB RAM. It runs AA titles from my Steam library in 1080p at ridiculous frame rates (IMO, you only really notice the difference between FHD and 4k on a laptop screen, so I opted for a 320Hz FHD screen over 60Hz 4k).

Sure, the MacBook Pro is svelte and sleek in comparison, but if you blow a stick of RAM, or the CPU/GPU on your MacBook, it’s Game Over. I just pull out the defective part and replace it.

I do travel quite a lot for work, and I have a work laptop that I’m loath to condemn to the aircraft hold. So my work laptop case goes overhead, and a bag containing my 11″ M1 iPad Pro and all its accessories goes under the seat in front.

This works fine for me. I don’t have the raw power of the A51, and can’t run my whole Adobe subscription (why not, Apple?), but I’m getting on reasonably well with Luma Fusion, and I do have versions of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

This works better for me than having two laptops with relatively bulky chargers, and I couldn’t really get a laptop bag under the seat, certainly not with a 20,000mAh power cell, mouse, Apple Pencil, mains charger (an ingenious design for the UK that folds flat), an external 1TB SSD, charging leads and AirPods Pro. The iPad Pro replaces my old Surface Pro 4, because, until the iPad Pro came out, I really couldn’t countenance using an iPad for any kind of work. But the iPad Pro is, at least, potentially faster than any Surface Pro, and it finally has trackpad and mouse support. I just wish Apple would do away with the restrictive mobile OS.

For the first time ever as a windows user, I really want Mac and apple to continue in this direction; get more native apps and games.

Nice video but no sense testing in native resolution. 2.5K is more more than enough with antialiasing. Even 1080p is still a good spot for gaming.

Im seeing an expensive laptop but all I see is broken wishes and smoke. I don’t understand why Mac ain’t opening opening up for playing all kinds og games natively and pack a good dedicated graffix gard in there.. lol so expensive and useless. A one trick pony.
