Thanks – a very thoughtful review! I bought the base model M1 Air two years ago. It’s a great laptop, but I really regretted the purchase. I have a large photo library, and found it quite frustrating to work off of external ssds. So I’ve traded it in for an M2 with 16 gigs, and 1TB ssd. Key points for me were the additional MagSafe port, and the TB ssd. So, yes, you can get a 14” MacBook Pro for that money, but only with half the storage. Also, lots of reviews say the difference in weight between the M2 Air & 14” isn’t significant. For guys maybe – lol. The difference in weight is huge for me. I need the portability of the Air, and it has all the power I need for photography and graphic design, etc. It’s a marvellous little workhorse.

It’s a bit frustrating that it doesn’t have a 120Hz display. I mean, I don’t want or need a full power, chunky 14″ MacBook Pro but all of my other devices have at least a 120Hz screen so I don’t really want to buy a 60Hz laptop. I don’t think 120Hz should be reserved for “Pro” devices in 2022. It would be nice if it was at least an optional upgrade at checkout. Kinda puts me off a little bit even though I’m really keen to get one. I’m on the fence about buying one and I might just hold off for another year.

Outstanding video, as always, mate! I’m a writer so as much as I love the miniLED on the MBP 14, all that impressive horsepower would be wasted on Word and PowerPoint documents. I could have gone with the M1 Air, but I wanted the brighter screen on the M2. I also have the M1 12.9″ iPad Pro which has been my mobile work device, along with the magic keyboard, for the past year. It’s new job will be as my main media consumption device with its gorgeous miniLED screen. I would have sold it and bought the 11″ iPad Pro if it got the miniLED screen this year. My space gray M2 16GB/512GB just shipped from those evil Chi-Commie bastards so it will be in my happy hands soon. Me excited!!

I dont see as a fair comparison saying you should get the base mbp 14 instead of the air if you spec it up, since youll have to spec up the 14 anyways if you wanted double the storage is still a big money gap.

why all the tech reviewers consider fingerprints such a big deal, is like having natural grease in your fingerprints like every human on earth is a sin, I don’t understand this, you leave grease on anything you touch, a laptop is not different, why they even talk about this? is because everybody does and they have to follow the same trend?

Well I think you are hiding important details from your audience mate. The base model is the wrong model to get. M1 Air is almost on par with it if not better aside the design change and the web cam…. Review should call apple out on their bullshit so they can fix the problem on next. If there was no price change then it would have been a different story.

Watch out it might not turn back on once you turn it off I have a MacBook and this happened to me a couple weeks ago I turned off my MacBook Air and it never turned back on I never had this problem with my MSI gaming laptop

What would recommend for spec on the 14 MacBook pro for having final cut pro, photoshop, lightroom should I have 16gb 512 or 1 TB Drive for a person who dies alot of editing work and 50 percent of video editing 🤔
