Face ID was not possible with intel chips. They needed the secure tech on the Apple silicon chips. And they wanted to keep the design of the previous gen to show that it’s the same. People often get scared with new technologies, this creates a more “secure and familiar feeling”
who is snoring 💤 in the background??
Great video man, loved it ✌️
I saw this out of nowhere and had an opportunity present itself to where I could get one with some credit card points that were set to expire worthless and put them towards gift cards to the Apple Store and picked one of these up!! Very happy!! I went with the base model like other reviewers had suggested and usually go for upgrades but I see why everyone has mentioned to stick with grabbing the base model!! It’s amazing!! Great video!!
nice ring
Why don’t you say that almost no printer wants to work with it
Can I install Microsoft Word and use it as usual? Or is there an issue to use it regarding to the M1 chip?
Loved to hear about the battery life being 10+ hours in light usage. I keep my Windows laptop plugged in even while editing Word docs -_-
Love how this review! Very reassuring and so much more down to earth for those of us whose anxiety has skyrocketed thanks to the other tech YouTubers who are out of touch with reality and trying to scare everybody into thinking they’ve made a grave mistake by not shelling out an extra $200 for the 16gb model when 8gb is more than enough on an M1 for the vast majority of people. They tend to forget that not everybody’s in a financial situation where they can afford to buy a top of the line laptop every week. Especially these days with the pandemic still affecting a good chunk of the population, when trying to decide whether to spend that extra $200 on more RAM or use it to make your next car payment, it’s just not worth it for what’s been shown to only give the laptop up to a 10% performance boost. That price difference also turns what could be a good deal on a necessity into an overpriced luxury item.
Edit: Also thank you for recognizing that not all of us are video editors. Liked and subscribed!
👏
Three months is “long term” ?
hundreds of tabs with chrome??? don’t think so 🥲 hahah
I ordered my m1 air today and the two main things that I had in mind before watching this video were exactly same as you mentioned in your review. Why not Face ID and ports on other side.. why not?
Is 8gb of ram and 256 ssd enough?
Holy cow. Ive been using the M1 Air for a week now and the battery life is phenomenal! Way longer than my MacBook Pro 2016
Great vid. Appreciate it
Had to switch it with the Mac 16gb. Just having a few tabs open in Chrome and editing my website on Wix, I always got a message saying RAM memory is full, close some apps.
16 GB is the perfect sweet spot.
I wonder if the fanless macbook is a good idea long term, and I mean really loooong term. I know that many apple fans or tech testers get a new device every year, every couple of years, but I hope to use my next laptop for at least next 5 years or more, and I wonder if after many years the missing fan will be a problem? I’m not a tech person, but I assume there is a reason why almost every laptop got one. I was planning to get a pro, but now it seems air is more than enough…but the fan thing is bothering me haha. Any advice?
Great review, thank you very much. May I ask you if you tried to use USB hub with it? Any problems?
Thank you in advance!
a couple questions about editing. Is the 8gb model enough? any updates on adobe premiere?
