I guess these people are so much used to high performance laptops.
I have a 2015 MacBook Air and I can comfortably create and compile a intermediate level android app(without emulator), keeping 10 chrome tabs open and play YouTube music.
Compared to my old Air this will run significantly faster.
I guess these YouTube creators say it’s slow because they maily use it for video production etc.
Hi thanks for your thoughts, Im considering getting a Mac laptop as my virtual one on my Alien Area 51 laptop always has issues, i dont really want to spend a fortune but instead hope to spend wisely the cheaper the better, do you know if the Air i5 would run xcode with its simulator in reasonable times or is it best to stick with the pro version or not use a laptop at all?
Yo this guy kinda sounds like Ryan from the office
usually i’m not picky with how youtubers adjust their lights, but it does disturb me a lot that i can’t see your eyes while you’re talking…
I have the i3 model, that one seems to heat less than the i5
Think different! Do not place a heat sink between the fan and the CPU. LOL
Apple harm their own product to sell another version. And there are people who still buy…
The only thing that bothers me is the brightness
Can I use this for programming?
If you can stomach windows???….
I cant stomach MacOS…..
Well said, ” If it was overheating, it would shut down.” People tend to over exaggerate and do not understand the mechanics of things. THUMBS UP!!
I’m so confused. You say that it reaches 99 simply loading up Spotify while in this video, https://youtu.be/abRJ_KzBeyE the guy loads up several tabs and applications and even 3 streaming platforms to bring it up to 99. What’s up with the different results?
My dumbass thought the skin was star wars
What it can and can’t do:
can:
simple everyday tasks (web browsing, word docs, spotify, etc).
can’t:
keep cool even on simple tasks due to heat pipe not connected to CPU (even spotify as Matthew said)
moderate to heavy tasks (such as above 1080p video editing and more)
4k OLED screen (even on the higher end Macbook pros)
play 98% of steam, epic, and origin games, even if it’s as powerful as the 16 inch Macbook pro or any other powerful Windows ultrabooks that can handle moderate gaming…cause MacOS (this includes even some Indie and casual games that can very much run fine even on the Macbook Air, but still no MacOS support)

I’d argue that Dell XPS is not significantly more value than the MacBook Air. Although it uses a different chipset from the MBA, it is also more expensive when specced similarly. Plus I am not too sure about the longevity of Dell Products. I have had my 2013 MBA for the past 6+ years and it still runs fine. That’s one of the main reasons why I would get an Apple product over any other. But to each their own, I suppose. I’m not a person that updates their tech every 1 or 2 years
Meh, I’m satisfied with the 2017 MacBook Air.
So what will you recommend between 2019 vs 2020 MacBook Air?
Hey Mathew
Is this MacBook Air i3 good for programmers?
