Great vídeo! What I was looking for! Love to see the performance against the MacBook Pro 13 entry level. What do you think about this I7 MacBook Air to garage band, iMovie, some html coding and some Photoshop and ilustrator nothing much heavy. Thank you
Nice video – although it felt more like watching something that should have been named: “What the Macbook Air can’t do” period 😂
Screw editing a 1080p video I’ll most likely use it for GarageBand time to time.
Would love to see a MacBook Air vs MacBook/Pro comparison. Obviously the Pro is more powerful, but sometimes visual context is helpful to see it presented back to us. Great video though, Matthew!
Will the fan always being on and the thermal issues cause the MacBook to not last long? I’m debating on getting the MacBook Air 2020 or last year’s MacBook Pro. I’m not sure if the keyboard changing is enough to make me get the MacBook Air. I want a MacBook that will last a long time
There was a T2 chip also in the 2018 and 2019 MBAs.
Can you do a video on colour space?? (SRGB, ADOBE RGB and stuff)…. Also the minimum standards for laptop screens these days???
99° downloading files???
Omg that stuff won’t last more than 3 years
“If you can stomach Windows… ” yep, that’s the big If. I honestly prefer to work with a 2010 Mac model than deal with Windows. Go get that computer. I own the 2018 model and have had no issues so far.
My job is mainly productivity.. mail and browser… odd excel spreadsheet. I’m in two minds. I’ve always used windows (20+ years) but have wanted to switch to Mac OS. I’d like advise on whether or not to go with the Air or the Dell XPS 13? Please help… i cant watch anymore reviews!
Stop talking like you know better than Apple’s own engineer
The fan is not connected to the CPU by a simple heatpipe because the air surface of the heatsink one such a design would be too small to allow the air to absorb the heat, and then it wouldn’t matter that you have managed to get the heat away from the CPU and over to a heatpipe based design if you can’t get it out of the machine due to the limited space for the necessary heatsink. So as long that you can ensure a good air flow from one side of the cabinet to the other, then you will be a lot better of with this passive design in a enclosed chamber https://i.imgur.com/TJRAhI4.jpg
So.. still garbage
Can you review the guitar on the right? What’s its TDP and doe it overheat?
That seems like a very strange definition of “overheating”. Generally 90C is considered high, and 100C is the absolute max. As for dropping below base clock, that is barely shy of 1.0Ghz on these cpus – which is in MP3-player territory. I am sure the computer will last for a couple of years, long enough for it to be out of warranty.
FINALLY someone who did this review with a quick keyboard test and without talking! You just got a new subbie!!!
@Matthew Moniz I just can’t belive, 90C while using spotify? So when I work with word documents and want to listen some piece of piano music on spotify I will hear fan noise instead piano? How about applemusic? I bet then I get 50-60C on CPU and quiet.
0:44 I was like woaaaa, wait a minute – it’s a skin! haha
“It’s not overheating” , I respectfully do not agree with you on your definition of overheating. Yes it does not go over 100 but Intel’s official papers not only advise against going over 100 but also advise going over 90 for prolonged time which this laptop does not respect.
Hey Matt, thanks for that honest review. How would u suggest this to someone who’s in the market for a 13″ ultrabook ( not inclined to any OS). Esp with new xps 13 and the anticipated MBP 13 (or 14).
Cooling system and keyboard was a joke in 2019 model. So Apple decided to release a new laptop with a finally working keyboard but still struggling with simple tasks, asking over 1000 dollars. That’s immoral! Not to mention storage capacity.
