This was a good review. I recently bought a refurbished 2019 MBP 8/256 model because in Canada it was my cheapest option and I don’t mind the keyboard. With the education specials coming out now I do wonder if I should just return it and get the base MBA 2020. But by all metrics, this model blows the i3 version away. Any thoughts? I generally use for media consumption and education, not video or photo editing.

New subscriber here! Love the straight to the point review! My 6-yr-old mid-2014 MBP 13″ is still kicking, but I’ve been enticed by upgrading to either this MBA or the MBP 13″. It’s been really tough deciding on which one to get as my needs are more along the lines of a MBA user, but am really weary about the heating and fan issues everyone on YT seems to be cautioning about. I want longevity and would want my MBA to last as long as my MBP has. Do you think overtime, the thermal and lack of proper fan cooling would affect the longevity? I’ll be buying Apple Care for sure, but I’m afraid it will have issues long after the Apple Care expires. What do you think?

I have the 2020 MBA (i5 quad core processor) for about a month now and it has been absolutely great. I conduct teletherapy sessions on Zoom all day while having multiple Safari tabs opened (large google drive docs and excel files opened at the same time). I’ve never experienced any ‘overheating’ but at times I do hear the fan when I have certain tabs on Safari opened. It isn’t an issue for me as it isn’t noticeable for very long. It is overall a great computer and is more than capable of handling everyday tasks that the average consumer needs to do.

Thank you for this video. I’m very interested in hearing your recommendations on accessories you mentioned. Where can I find those? I’m specifically interested in dongles and a wireless mouse. I do not need the mouse to be sophisticated, just reliable and responsive.

Hey. i wanted to ask that will the macbook show heat problems or the fan speed issues if i use it only or online google meet classes and netflix streaming, youtube and normal web browsing. i am thinking about buying macbook but the heating issues really holding me back. i thinking about going with the i3 version according to my needs but the i dont really know will it hold the heating problems or not?

I am thinking of buying base model mab2020…I don’t do photo editing or any heavy task mostly I do is browsing, YouTube, prime video’s and Netflix. Will it be sufficient???

I do not agree with you on Zoom or Microsoft Teams, bad test you have done, maybe one to one. But with more people 10 or so, you have a serious problem. Temperature speeds up to 100 degrees, your machine starts slowing down, freezes also, a lot of fan noise! The only thing turned one is the videoconferencing if you want to share screen it slows or freezes. So for Students in this time not workable. So bad advice! Apple is not helping, there is a hardware solution Apple should do!
