The first MacBook Air was not the first ultrabook, subnetbook, or whateverbook. Not by a long shot.
It was perhaps the most successful, but not the first.
As with most Apple products.

Not really sure why the 13” non touch bar MBP keeps getting recommended. For me the unreliable keyboard is a killer. Apple should have updated its keyboard if they had intended on leaving it in their lineup. I need a computer where I’m not constantly visiting the Genius Bar to fix my keyboard. The 2018 MacBook Air is likely what I’ll be getting, albeit boosted to 16GB RAM & 512GB SSD.

It is for me. I have been making do with a 2012 MacBook Air. The 2018 MacBook Air is world’s different than what I am use too. I love it.
