I already have an iPad Mini which I can take to work and study with. However I want a new laptop, so should I get the MacBook Air or the cheapest MacBook Pro (£999 version)?

Lol and spend so much more? Just get an external optical drive. You can get quality ones for around $30-$40 on Amazon.

it depends wether you need a super light weight air with small ssd (128gb) but it is lightning fast. or do u want a pro with a disk drive a 500gb hard drive but slower than the air. personally i would get the lowest model 13inch air and then buy an external hard drive with 1tb to hold all your files and stuff on.

Hey, I had a Mac for 6 years, it was the old Macbook and its hard drive went out. The people at the Mac Store told me that they don’t make parts for my computer anymore. My wife and I are teachers, we don’t edit anything on video or anything like that, we just surf the internet, watch tv shows and use microsoft office for work. Should we get a pro or a air? What would you recommend? Or a Dell or HP? lol

hmm, yeah i don’t maximise the core, i use upto about 12gb of my RAM, 230gb of my ssd, and need the 15inch screen… so the retina is the best bet for me at the moment… maybe in a few years when i finish my studies and don’t need to run so many ram hungry programs, spreadsheets, documents at the same time, i can switch to a 13inch air or 13inch pro. I currently have my screen scaled for 1920×1200.
