You are wrong because this MBA is the latest generation. The “macbook air retina” is the macbook pro retina.

No
I’m looking for a good laptop to take to college. I like the 13 inch form factor.
Since the 13in macbook pro won’t be able to have a quadcore, do you think the macbook air would be better for the space savings and ssd speeds? (I built a desktop to do any heavy lifting when it comes to editing and such.)
ultrabooks > macbook air
Awesome video:)
Can someone help? I am hoping to get a laptop for college classes and some light gaming, and I am not sure whether I should get a Pro or an Air. I thought 13.3″ is too small, but that may be because I have a 16.3″ laptop–giving up 3″. Also, I like how the Air is sooo light, but does it run as fast as the Pro? Is it easy to break? I was gonna get the Pro, but I don’t know if it is too heavy.15″ is also heavier. Is 13″ good? Also, is i5 good? Is the $100 worth the upgrade to i7?
Hey, get an Air. It`s perfect for college and light gaming because of the upgraded Intel HD 4000. Games like CoD:MW3 and Mass Effect 3 run on low to medium graphics (google intel HD 4000 benchmarks for more precise gaming info). The Air runs faster than the Pro, because it has SSD storage (faster boot times, apps are quicker to launch, etc). As for the i5 vs i7. I believe the i7 had 20% more cpu performance so I believe it would be a great investment. Also being an Air your back will thank you!
But don`t take my word for it. I`ve read a ton of reviews and I have a Pentium 4 on my desk. Read some reviews and if it sounds like a fit for you (which I strongly believe is the case) then get the air.
That sounds perfect but there is one problem… I can get the same thing with the pro for like $1,200 or so, but it would be 4.5 pounds, but if I wanted an Air for the subtracted weight and increased performance, I would need:
1) A CD drive ($79)
2) Let’s say.. 8GB RAM ($100)
3)i7 ($100)
4)128 Gigs isn’t enough… I would need at least 200… which leaves the $1,500 Air… but then I would still have to add the CD drive and the i7… that would be like $1,700… for just 1.5 pounds lighter :/
hehe, he says bean instead of been. lmao
For storage 128 will be enough for all your needs. Buy an external HDD and use that for backups, downloads, etc.
You should be able to survive with Remote Disc (using another computer`s CD drive over the air), but if not, an external one is a tiny price to pay.
As for the RAM – 4 GBs of RAM will be more than plenty. 8 is for heavy video editing.
Multitasking, surfing, watching, etc, will be identical on both the i5 and i7. The i7 only shows itself in gaming (again – 20ish%) and video editing
Again – don`t take my word for it. Go to an apple store and ask about it, but I believe the answers will be similar to mine.
