sorry for this stupid question, is safe to used the air while the charger is on? i have a friend who did this for a long period of time (about 16 hours) without unplugging it, then suddenly it stopped working. The technician said the motherboard inside was damaged.. I have the MBP 2009 which im using most of the time with the charger on, but still has a good performance even the battery life… sorry for my bad english.
I have the older Macbook Air and edit Final Cut Pro (1080P) and Photoshop, Priemere Pro, Aperture. You Name It! I got the computer maxed out with the i7-1.8ghz and 4gb RAM.
It works fine!
I’m thinking about getting a mac too, I’m a student, so I’ll just use it for very basic things, but I do hope to have a fast computer, as I’m really driven crazy by my current one… I would like to know if it’s worth it to upgrade to i7? Seeing that this update is not a big one, could there be a major update the next time? Though I don’t wish to wait for another year too,,
SSD is a big factor. Thanks for the help. Air is better.
Are you serious ? The battery shouldn’t suffer at all if it’s plugged to the wall. Aren’t the batteries supposed to be disabled that way ?
Hey man great video. I have a question, do you think that not having a CD/DVD drive is a negative? I currently have a 13″ Macbook Pro 2009 Model and I want to sell it so I can buy the new 2012 Macbook Air 13″ and like you said I will upgrade to a 8GB RAM. Is that a good idea? I still don’t know if its ok to trust Macbook Air’s. Do you think I will miss the CD/DVD drive? Thanks for the help!
Pro
if you want to use photoshop professionally I would get a pro
air is able to handle photoshop but it will slow down on big images
I buyed an air because I only need a code editor and a bit internet
Okay, so I’m new to all apple products except iPods, can anyone tell me what the difference is between this and a normal laptop for half the price?
i was hoping you would adress the “macbook air 13 or macbook pro 13” because they are now the same price.
from this generation, i prefer an Air, thanks for this video.
If you’re looking at the $1199 models, the Pro would most likely be your best option. 500GB of HDD space means you’ll never have to worry about running out (128GB is TINY), and a 2.5GHz processor will fare much better in photo editing against the Air’s 1.8GHz processor. Also, you can manually upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB in the Pro for around $60 or less. All you have to do is open it up, pop out the old RAM, and put in the new. However, if you like to stick your MacBooks in envelopes…
@TheSobe2009 Can you tell me how much did you pay for that extra RAM? It means a lot to me 🙂
Watching this on my new 13 inch Macbook Air 2012. Lol.
You Forgot to talk about the MacBook Pro, with the regular screen.
mine will be delivered this friday all the way from China!!!
EXCITED!!!
specs:
Macbook Air ’13
8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM/ 2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core Core i7/ 256GB Flash Storage.
an upgrade from my old late 2008 white macbook. 🙂
can’t wait! 🙂
I agree even though the MacBook Pro with the retina display or desirable at the price point at this time I think this is probably a better option for most people.
awesome i’m looking to do the same i can’t carry my 13″ mac pro anymore need something lighter gonna go withe same specs too
If you’re really looking for portability, your best choice would be the 11″ Air, that thing is super thin and light, it’s amazing! Personally i would prefer the MacBook Pro, because i think that would be perfect for my tasks and if i ever need more power, i can always upgrade the components! (Y)
I was asking myself the same question and from what i’ve discovered it seems that the air and the pro are very similar in terms of performance. If you are still concerned about performance though I would do what Lew has suggested by upgrading the air with 8gb of ram.
