Jeff, I feel you hit on the best point about these new Mac Pros. If we can swap the CPU as well. Then, getting an 8 or 12 core to start would be a great base point. As our needs grow then we’ll expand the machine with more cores, GPUs, HDDs, etc… I should have said SSDs BTW. (:

Apple really got this computer RIGHT. I’ve been very critical of many of their recent products, but this computer shows that they still have got what it takes to come up with first class hardware. Yes, I would prefer AMD CPUs, and NVidia GPUs… but this is splitting hairs really. If I hadn’t already build my own very powerful workstation I would be getting one of these. Maybe next upgrade cycle if they stick to this form factor and just upgrade the internals.

I’ll be getting this new Mac Pro, I still have my 2008’ Mac Pro (I paid $5,000.00 for the computer and $999.00 per Screen of which I have two) with 16GB RAM running OS X Sierra, this will be a great upgrade for me with the new Mac Pro.

**Never had to purchase any anti-virus software for any of my Macs.

I’m glad that this new Mac Pro will actually be modular and have PCIe slots like my 2008’. Gonna Max it out and be done with it, hopefully it’ll last me 10/11 years like my original did.

Why companies stop producing new computers? 1. recycle problems. 2. reduce landfills. 3. computers don’t need higher speed. YouTube play very well without needing super high intel processors. for example, raspberry pi, iPhone, Android can play YouTube without higher intel processor. 4. i7 is highest computer processors.it’s software. GTA V would run super sonic speed in i7

I LOVE it! wish I could afford one! but sadly I can not. guess I’ll stick w/ my 2009 “cheese grater” Mac Pro for now. 🤔😉 Still, this is a beautiful & powerful machine no doubt!! Amazing job by Apple … also, this is an awesome in depth review, very nice . 👍👍

For the price of an entry level mac pro with 8 cores, 32GB of RAM and a RX 580 you can have a 28 core xeon w beating AMD 3960x with 256GB of RAM, a Quadro RTX4000 and 1TB SSD. You want the equivalent from Apple? It’s going to cost you over 10.000$ extra. 🙂

And when your boot drive craps out, you cant replace it with any off the shelf ssd as it needs to be sent back to Apple to get replaced since its Tied to the T2 Chip. Have fun not having your work computer for a week.
