Your monitor is sitting way too high (ergonomically and visually). The Apple Studio Display itself sits too high and can’t be adjusted lower – but to make things worse, you have it sitting on a shelf!! The top of the monitor should be in line with your eyes.

Can we use premiere pro? Will it be good enough
As a secondary device the base model is unparalleled. As a primary device, especially if you work from it, it’s so constrained and upgrades remove all the value that a Ryzen mini pc will be a much more verisatibe option for much cheaper
This is a pretty good video with nice thoughts
Never had a Mac before, but unfortunately the Bluetooth is still a bit meh, mx3 mouse at times have short drops that looks like pointer is tearing at times. Other than that it is sort of nice but nothing special compared to my 6800h amd or first gen ryzen 7 2700x. They all run pretty much the same speed with amd ones outperforming video export on adobe. Single core is good. Still do not like it cannot run virtual machines properly as a type 1 hypervisor.
Hey Greg thanks for the review and summup. can you tell me if the issues with longer timelines you are mentioning with m2 mini 8gb version are not actually happening on older M1 8gb (fast ssd) version ?
Still using a base model 2014 Mini for every day tasks. 100% spot on about some base model Macs being practicality unusable for basic tasks out of the box. This 2014 came with a 5400RPM drive, out of the box it was horrible almost returned it. Swapped the record player for an SSD and 9 years later still going still totally usable!
M2 (not pro) 16GB 512GB – Will this work well for 4K Video editing in Adobe Premiere? 15-20 minute films.. that’s my question 😮
Thanks Greg; good, well-balanced review (pros/cons). I went for the M2 Pro Mini, 16GB, 1TB SSD; one disappointment is that I have seen the spinning beach ball a few times. It only lasts <5 seconds, but I didn't think I would experience this at all with this setup. I do use Lightroom for photo editing but that is about the only intensive application that I run. Wondering now if I should have opted for 32GB of memory, and (as you suggest) go for more storage externally.
thank you for this video. I have vision problems and i hear macs are the best for accessibility (especially compared to windows) so i was looking at this machine–basically cause of how cheap it was.
good to see that it’s reallly good but obviously not perfect.
So thanks, Greg!
The wifi issue continues
The entry level Mac Mini 2 is enough for most users. If you need more, get more, pay more. Just purchase what you need.
Most of my bluetooth issues have been solved with this new generation of m2 Mac minis. I have discovered one new problem I am experiencing with my UE Boom 3 speaker. I am experiencing frequent skips in the audio, and sometimes loose the audio outright. Not until I forget the device and reconnect, does it sound normal again, if only for a few hours. Then the process starts over again. Anyone else here having similar issues?
512GB is also slow 🐌 you have to go for 1tb
Thanks a lot 🙂 Base model + ram upgrade really makes sense for this form factor/price 🙂
Thank you, Greg for another excellent comment video on the M2 “mac mini”. This M2 Pro ‘mac mini” model is what, I had been waiting for Apple, Inc. to introduce for over a two year period (with their M1 processor chip) but, Apple never did. So, last year, I gave up and picked-up for about $1,000 a used 2014, space gray “trash can” size Mac Pro with 8-core/ D-700/64 GB/ 1TB SSD which, is working great and meets all of my current needs.
great review! when you say 4k editing, you mean no proxy, right ??
The Tim Cook’s cameo vas really funny
I own now an M2 Air. 8GB 256GB. I love it. Prefer now to work with before my i7 iMac 64GB 4TB. Especially because there are no fans.
