Should have given it the notch but typical Apple
Great Video, thanks for that. I’d appreciate if You can do a Disk speed test. I noticed Your review model is the One with 1TB SS.
Some reviewers with the “ Base Model ” Configurations are seeing lesser disk speeds than the M1 Base model.
It would be nice to see if we can have a comparison.
Thank You.
Killin it Monica, thanks for the review.
I’ve got the 14″ MBP with M1 Max but I’m soooo tempted to get M2 MacBook Air because that battery life is exactly what I need
Should I buy the m1 macbook air with a 16gb ram or the regular base m2 macbook air?
I love how she just skimmed right over the Touch Bar. It’s such a nonevent it doesn’t even need to be mentioned, not even once. I know this computer get’s a lot of slack for it’s old design, but it’s still excellent in terms of performance and battery life.
Making photo black and white in photoshop? that is the test? come on
Does this video suffer from heavy compression artifacts or is it just me?
I miss Dieter
Great review. It’s perfect for my needs.
The truth is that Apple doesn’t lose anything by putting an M2 in an old body that must have thousands left over. It’s just a tactic to sell tons of the Air M2. It is the strategy always, they invests little in a hood to get triple profits from the bait. I have no doubt that the next base model Macbook Pro will be with the 14” chasis and M2 with I/Os and Magsafe, maybe at $1399 or $1499.
wait.. 02:30

she said nothing about how M2 has dedicated encode decoders for pro res while the m1 does not. this is a big deal for people that work with pro res but do know want to spend the extra $ to get a 14 or 16″ pro.
who tf still tries to game on a mac!?
How is the 4K export (2:28) better on the M1 than the M2?
guys apple is finnessing you with this M2 MacBook Pro! They’re trying to get rid of old M1 MacBook Pro stock. Save your money and wait and buy an M2 MacBook Air with;
The M2’s GPU is 35 percent faster than that of the M1, according to Apple. But the M1 Pro, with up to 16 GPU cores and way more memory bandwidth, is about twice as fast as the M1. So expect the M1 Pro to still come in around 40 percent faster than the M2.
Looking forward to an M1 vs M2 comparison for the Air!
might be my first ever apple product and I do want to make an informed decision
In my opinion I think I most people can get by with base model laptops, and those that can’t already know that and know what they are going to get. The base model M1 MBP & MBA 13″ is more than enough for most people. Its not worth upgrading to any of the M2 base models unless you want the extra ports that will come with the Air. I use mine for casual gaming (WoW), YouTube, safari, websites that won’t work on my iPad, various tasks you would generally have a “household” computer for.
I bought my M1 MBP 13″ on Easter weekend for $1099 only because for $100 more I get the fan and for my basic use case it makes sense as opposed to spending $300 more for the fan. My basic use case is for my casual gaming. I play WoW pretty much the only game I play and it can handle M+ and raids as long as its in small groups which is what I prefer anyways, and I only casually jump into both since I don’t have the time to do much more. There are dungeons and bosses that will kick the fan on but the game remains consistent. In open world bosses that changes but thats expected (far more people, and it still never pushes past 87°C and fans never have even reached 2k RPM) and once the boss is over it cools off so fast it doesn’t really matter.
Edit – on my MBP the fans do turn on but I have never heard them even during heavy usage (gaming). I monitor it all with TG Pro
