Just order the m2 Mac mini.😊
It will be an M2 Pro Mac Mini for me. Will be upgrading to the 12 core CPU and 32 GB ram. This configuration is STILL cheaper than the base model Mac Studio. The M2 Pro is going to be faster than the M1 Max anyway. I do audio so I need CPU and Ram not GPU or the extra Ethernet. By default the M2 Pro Mac mini has HDMI 2.1 as well. Added bonus, I LOVE the Mac mini’s tiny footprint. The Mac Studio always seemed kind of weird to me.
Don’t forget that the M1 Max in the Mac Studio has double the memory bandwith than the M2 Pro in the new Mac Mini … just saying 😉
the M1 mac mini fits in 1U instead of 3, there is a market for it being more expensive
So much whining. I send two dozen virtual Kleenex and wish you a good recovery. 😏
Слишком много кривляется
You omitted mentioning (or I missed it) about the upgraded bluetooth and Wifi 6 available on the new mini
I too am an Audio Engineer, and I would say the Mac Studio for me. I work with huge classical sample libraries, and the Mac Studio seems to handle them with ease. The memory bandwidth on the Studio is double the Mac Mini as mentioned by @Ytytfytfujbyddutrxrt down below, and I think this helps speed up the Studio. I intend to use mine for the next 12-14 years like I did my old Mac Pro from 2006. I cant see me using the Mac Mini for this long. Also, the SD slot is brilliant for taking field recordings from a Zoom F6 and plugging them straight into the Mac.
Isn’t the point of this pricing so that as you consider upgrades, they get you to consider jumping up to the next level? That seems like standard pricing strategy 🤷♂
Biggest issue is when will there be a M2 mac studio, if they keep the same price point as the current models which is the case for the M2 pro and max laptops, then the M2 mac studio would be the obvious choice and make a lot of people that maxed out the M2 pro mini rather pissed off
Thermals, TDP is where it always comes down for me. Especially with that small case. I’ve had Apple products kill themselves running too hot. So I’m gonna come down on the side of Studio, bigger case, bigger FANS = more usable power at the highest clock rate.
I hate the bluetooth issues with the Mini — wonder if that is fixed in the new version
Depending on the thermals I’m probably going to get the base M2 Pro mini cause that will have what I’m looking for
The Max cpu on the Studio is an overkill for me, but the HDMI 2.1 on the M2 pro Mini opens up a lot of possibilities. Now I can finally plug it in my 8K TV and get native 8K output. Have been searching for 8K TV boxes and all are crappy. Still, $1,299 for an 8K TV box is kind of outrageous. Was hoping that the base model had the HDMI 2.1 though.
the HDMI 2.1 is enough for me
Horses for courses. You’re comparing the base Studio model against the ultimate Mini. So in your comparison there is a difficult choice overlap – but the real benefit of the Studio is in its own upgrades that take it over 3K. So Mini for the sub 2K users and Studio for the 3-5K users with an overlap at 2K… I’ve got 2 older Minis and a Studio so I’m not biased (I think)…
Great video. This seems like the same type of discussion that we had for the M2 MacBook Air versus the 14 inch M1 MacBook Pro. I decided to buy the M2 MacBook Air base model; any upgrades brought it too close to the 14 inch MacBook Pro. I think the base model M2 Pro mini is the sweet spot. If you want more than one or maybe two upgrades wait for the M2 Mac Studio.
The m2 max studio can only be a couple of months away.
I like the M1 Ultra MacStudio. It is like a super computer in a small package.
Could be wrong but I believe I heard that you couldn’t upgrade the studio SSD yourself, depending on whether Apple allows us as owners to upgrade our own devices I would say get the cpu and gpu unit you want and upgrade the rest yourself.
