I have a late 2017 Macbook Pro with touch bar and I can’t even use Adobe Premiere Pro/After Effects interchangeably without it starting to freeze. I feel like I’m a good candidate for this M2 MBP solely because I enjoy this design, I have all the peripherals necessary like a hub, and I need that spec boost without breaking the bank.

The biggest issue is there is only 100 dollar difference between a M2 Macbook pro 13in with 24gb ram and 1tb and a 14in Macbook pro M1 Pro 8 core 14 core gpu 32gb and 1tb plus you get the higher refresh screen

I would be surprised if the 13″ MacBook pro is still being sold this time next year. Apple would be smart to have something more modern in the lineup between the Air and the 14″ pro. The 13″ pro feels extraneous in the lineup given that the Air and 14″ Pro both exist. If you are doing anything that requires active cooling, then the other benefits of the 14″ pro are likely going to be worth the extra cost of that machine.

Why the hell do you use Ice Lake as a comparison benchmark Rene? It’s from 2019. Tiger Lake and Alder Lake have been out for quite some time and they are substantial updates for both the CPU and iGPU. This is so disingenuously misrepresentative of a proper comparison to Intel that one could almost mistake this for being a puff PR piece from Apple.

We all love what Apple has done with Apple silicon and pushed the industry forward. But this is horrible journalism or just shameful willful ignorance. Do it over.

I still wish they would offer the Touch Bar AND the Function Keys. There’s PLENTY of space on all of the laptops, especially if the Fn-keys are half height, especially if they shrink the ginormous trackpad by 5%.

If you have any doubts at all, get the 14-inch. Yes, it’s heavier, but we’re talking a pound, no one will care and it’s more expensive, but that screen is pure gold. Trust me. It is the only tech product I get excited about using every time I pick it up.

I got the 13 M1 maxed out a few months ago & it’s amazing. I love it only thing I would want it’s more RAM bc More RAM. But it’s great

I understand the larger point that manufacturers should update their products regularly, but is there not a minimum threshold where purchases got difficult? Like say in the (impossible) scenario that they upgraded laptops 0.5% faster every week? Strange psychological things would happen

The performance thing is simple: the number ahead will perform between the previous non-pro one and previous pro. Simple. The exception is the pure single core workloads which is slightly better than previous pro, where being pro or not is meaningless
