but at this price and in 2022 the base storage of any MacBook must be 1Tb or at least 512Gb with 16 Gb memory…

Lot of overlap in price at the top end of the Air and 14” pro. I’m in the fence about getting a 14/16” at about $2300.

Intel was very out of date ! Over heating and not quick ! Software is just catching up to the M1 ! Will we be reviewing Mac when we are 100 years old ? Could happen !

Thanks for this review and your thoughts. I have a 2019 13″ Intel MacBook Pro. I like the touch bar display. There are so many times when then next thing I want to do or type is sitting there, lit up as a default action on the touch bar, and I just have to tap it to keep going. I’m not a fan of the butterfly keys, though. They’re reliable, but I just can’t get used to the feel of the shallow key travel. I’d like to move to a MacBook with Apple silicon and magic keyboard at some time. Don’t need it, but I want it. Haven’t decided which one, though, or when.

I wish apple reused the upper tier 2020 13in mbp (the one with 4 ports and 2 fans) chassis instead of what we have now. Just because that last iteration was rather good and would be a reasonable upgrade/difference.

Im not expecting 4 tb ports, just 2 of them to be tb and the other 2 just usb 3.1 speeds. It would make a more compelling item vs the m2 air. Because the choice is thinness and magsafe vs cooling and more utility… which is what a pro device ought to be anyways.

I still don’t get the price point of the new mbp with 100$ more in the base model then the air. Because as it is the pros of the air (magsafe, new design, better display, better camera, function keys) outweigh the pros of the m2 pro (it has a fan and can sustain more power). So now I am leaning towards the macbook air m2.
Had apple for example had said “You know what this is the old design because we hadn’t had time. But therefore we’ll give you 500 GB in the base model” then I’d probably go for the pro

Keyboard on mbp 14″ m1 is better than on the old mbp 13 m1 – so mb air will have the same keyboard – but it’s a matter of personal choice I guess.

I don’t use my touch bar, but I think it’s cool! It just makes the laptop look cooler and it makes it unmistakable for any other laptop.

With enough time I think some developers may find good useful uses for it. I hope they bring the touchbar back the 16” M2 MacBook Pro.(my unpopular opinion)

It’s a good upgrade compared to intel but if anyone is running m1 I wouldn’t upgrade with my air for example can run games in 1440p high settings while having music open, discord and the activity monitor all while used the main screen, a 1440p 165 htz monitor and use a ipad as a third screen granted mine is the maxed out model 😂 so results may very

I wish Rene would talk about the EA Acquisition talks that may or may not lead to anything with Apple. Apple needs to 3D content creators and games (WITH NVIDIA/AMD GPUS) in the worse way and acquiring EA would atleast kind of force Apple down that path more than a payed for AAA game here and there.

8 gigs and 256 storage isn’t enough, 16 and 512 config cost just a little less than the base 14 inch MacBook …this m2 pro doesn’t make any sense, might as well get the air and bump up the specs
