To be honest? this Macbook is for people like me, people that want the most efficient chip and live in a hot environment so want a fan that can dissipate all the heat from the chassis, i waited for this for a long time being sure it would ditch the hated touchbar and maybe would give people a way to recharge the laptop from both sides but alas… gotta wait and hope for another cycle…

I still don’t get why they didn’t take the air design, make it a bit thicker to fit a fan, and call that the pro.

What do you think will extend longevity the most? Max the RAM? Go with a MBP vs the Air? Max out cores? Up the SSD size? I’m thinking the M2 Air 24GB RAM and 1TB SSD is a compelling comparison against a MBP, except for that fan.

Love the direction of the M2. And if you by chance live in a tropical environment like SE Asia…or Florida in the summer for that matter, having the FAN option on the Pro version is nice. I live about half the year in Northern America, and half the year in the Philippines… and I’ve seen first hand how the heat and humidity kills INTEL chip sets rather quickly. I know M1 & M2 isn’t as hot…but better safe than sorry. 13” M2 Pro might be a better fit with all that additional cooling. Apple already has heat issues with phones over there, so why chance it?
