They should named it ” Macbook pro lite” instead of saying MBP M2
M1 Gold Air 16gb RAM 512gb storage is the one I’m gonna get, when can we se the M2 air results?
I think Luke Miani may have found out why the M2 with 256 GB is slower in his video where he tried to upgrade the M1 MacBook Pro to the M2 logic board. The M1 has by default two SSDs in its base config, whereas the M2 starts with one SSD and that may mean there is overall less bandwidth for storage being available in the base config of the M2. perhaps removing one of the SSDs from the base config of the M1 would result in the same speed drop?
Please compare the Lightroom GPU Acceleration Export option in since LR 11.4.
I won’t be buying a product from a company that tries to maximize profits by compromising its product’s hardware and forces the customer to go for their higher-end products specifications to get decent performance, Apple is basically giving a slap to their loyal fans and suck up every penny from them as much as they can, cause they know their fans won’t switch to windows alternative and will take this as an advantage for them to dry up their wallets
I’ve got M1 MacBook Air 💻 I’m really with it I won’t be upgrading to the M2 MacBook Air 💻
just buy an 14″ M1 Pro refurbished. Base is on 2029 EUR VS M2 Air / MBP both 16 – 512
The SSD slowdown inevitable because modern NAND has higher density thus requires fewer NAND chips for the same storage. Let me give you an example, say, older M1 model use 96-Layer 3D NAND which has a capacity of 256Gb=32GB per chip. For 256GB model, it needs 8 chips. That is, you have 8 chips working in parallel. But new M2 model uses newer 128-Layer 3D NAND which has a capacity of 512Gb=64GB per chip. For the same 256GB model, you only have 4 chips in parallel. That will cut performance in half. I say it’s inevitable because vendors stop making lower density NAND chips because of cost inefficiency. I don’t know exactly which NAND Apple uses but the idea is the same.
Tons of videos about the same Apple product over and over is tempting me to unsubscribe. Too much view grab.
Why did Apple remove the HDMI port on the M2 Pro compared to the M1 Pro
This degrading performance by the ssd is only apparent with the 256 gb , right?
I read the 512 gb and up doesn’ t have this right?
Bad rap from apple, but 3 videos down the road, we now know already, right? What about testing a 512 Gb m2 MacBook Pro?
So, in essence, the new M2 machine is worse in every meanigful way.
With the air releasing soon… would a 14 inch m2 pro would do better then this?
Kinda glad i still have my M1
I decided on the 14 inch MBP M1 Pro with a 10% discount, because after I optioned out a 13” MBP M2 and a new MBA with 16gb RAM and 512gb of storage, I would have only paid $100 less than what I paid for my MBP 14” with the same storage and RAM, and it goes without saying which of the three has more future-proof internals. If I wasn’t buying an M1 Pro MBP, I’d go with a base M1 MBA or MBP refurbished. Those are probably the best balance between price and performance.
Apple is not going to make a Laptop that cost less money be better than they’re more expensive one
Like the ipad air 4 speakers are better than m1 11’’ ipad speakers
I hope the m2 air won’t have the same ssd issues, but honestly, it would be a huge slap in the face to anyone that bought the pro if it had the better ssds
Wow so glad I bought the first gen M1. Looks like it’s still worth something haha 🙂
Wow, the MBP M2 needs to just go away. You are so right saying it’s not really a “pro” machine. I was hoping for the MBA M2 to have mini-led. To have to spend twice the money to get mini led is ridiculous. With as much cash as Apple is sitting on, shorting the MBP M2’s SSD is a dick move. An M1 Air is looking good right now as I prefer the older design. For me, the best would be a MBA M1(old chassis) with mini led. 💪
