Feels like a minor upgrade, that’s why Dave can still recommend the older one. Same logic as iPhones, if there is a minor upgrade, the old one can probably fetch you a better deal.

Dell could ABSOLUTELY sell an xps 13 or 15 from 2016 (which is older than that MacBook Pro 13 design since it has a redesigned 2020 keyboard) with a new chip AS LONG AS it was an ultra efficient intel chip the way M1 is.

the reason they can sell this “old design” is because the case in many ways is just way ahead of its time in strength and quality, many MANY others are still playing catchup and have not achieved this standard even today for thair laptop chassis. as pretty as the dell is, it’s just not as rigid and sturdy as a pure machined aluminum shell.

I think they did it just to push people towards the 14 inch Pro models. Take a chip and drop it in an existing laptop, but don’t upgrade anything else. Not the camera, not the screen, nothing. Most people will look at it and go, for $600 more, I can have a much more premium and powerful device. I think if you are looking at the Pro (this 13 inch) you aren’t interested in the Air anyways. I mean I guess if you are on a budget and NEED to have a MacBook, I guess it makes sense, but if you’re on a budget, are you really looking at an apple laptop in the first place?

I was in a state of WTF when Apple unveiled the 13″ M2 MacBook Pro, and they changed literally NOTHING besides adding in the M2 SoC…. like WTF Apple? Do you have stock of that old case design that you’re trying to sell off before you adopt the MacBook Air’s new design or something? The TouchBar MacBook Pros are pointless and stupid IMO… I prefer a full row of function keys like I have on my 14″ M1 Pro…

i would straight up ask everyone to not buy it, idk why he is recommending this or simply not stating the fact that its ancient tech. I have nothing against him but i bought intel mac book air on his recommendation just before the drop of m1 chip, and that has been the worst decision in my tech purchase hands down. DO NOT BUY THIS.

I’ve seen the price and the best spec you can get and I’d disagree with Dave. Get the M2 Macbook Air if you really want an m2 mac. You’re not going to do any heavy loads with 8 gbs of ram max so you might as well go with update model.
