I really like this review. Big thing I’d argue is most folk aren’t vying for a new design, only legitimate complain I would hear about this was the touch bar and port selection. Overall it still seems great.

I’m really interested in seeing if the M2 MacBook Air will throttle. I’m shocked (in a good way) at how well my fabless M1 MacBook Air (16GB) works under sustained loads. I sometimes run BOINC distributed computing science programs at 50 percent CPU and GPU loads over night, and when I wake them up in the morning, Activity Monitor still shows my CPUs running at a 42 to 45 percent load. Meaning performance has only dropped 10 to 15 percent chugging away at a sustained load for 7 or 8 hours. My new Dell work laptop thinks it’s mining bitcoin if I have Acrobat and InDesign opened at the same time.

The comments you made about windows HAVING TO work well with all these other companies (Intel, AMD, Nvidia,… etc) is the exact reason WHY I chose windows products over anything Apple will ever produce. Apple products are ONLY designed to work with other Apple products, and I for one would love greater flexibility and choice when buying my consumer products. I prefer Sony cameras, Samsung TVs, One More headphones… etc. You get the point. Apple can continue to pander to their lemmings.

For this chip, i would buy this MacBook second hand and do a jailbreak if Apple were using decent keyboard on it, lik a ThinkPad.

I just got this new M2 MacBook Pro so I’m sad now… JK, for me it was still a good purchase. The M1 MBP didn’t got cheaper here in Brazil so I actually paid less for the M2. Also, my 2012 MBP can’t be updated anymore so I was kinda forced to buy a new one.
