I think the problem of windows laptop cannot do the same thing as Apple is that Apple is the only company that design and produce the chip with a huge improvement of the power consumption and power efficiency.
And for windows laptop there is no such kind of chip. It’s just not possible to drop a new chip in an old body and expect it to perform better and also without any thermal issues. In my opinion, the apple way of controlling till the software only helps for it to have a nicer user experience than the windows in the same generation. It’s definitely not an excuse that windows laptop can makes for themselves.
So in my opinion, it’s more likely the fault of AMD, intel and Microsoft(not Linux as Linux already has arm based OS and the percentage is just too small, normally if you are not a developer you will not use Linux) didn’t have the courage to make the decision to switch to ARM based system for the customer.

I don’t think it needs improving I like how it hasn’t got all those things that I will never use I just want a bit of speed I don’t care about the camera or Touch Bar I just want a MacBook Pro that is fast.

I think this is somewhat like an IPhone SE situation. Basically, it does almost everything that a computer needs to do, and it does it very well. I think sometimes people forget that even without the latest and greatest features, the MacBook is still a wonderful performer. Would still love to have MagSafe but USB-C isn’t bad either imo.

This is a fairly ultimate “fleet-computer” option for enterprise, like you said. Engineering companies that run CAD projects would be sort of a perfect client. Travelling engineers would want practical, simple, powerful, seemingly endless battery life. That said, these things will probably be quite a available in the new MacBook Air.

I kinda wish they called this protect the Air Pro or something… just add some more ports like HDMI, two more thunderbolt, SD card reader… I dunno

To be honest, give me to that model regular function key row, no touchbar, and add magsafe, and i would choose it over 14 inch.

I can see why some people are disappointed in the new M2 Pro, especially with the new redesigned M2 Air. Weirdly enough, I think this is makes a lot of sense, because you really have to ask yourself what are you really looking for when you’re buying a laptop. If you’re after something fun and casual it’s no question you go with the Air. But the Pro has always been marketed towards heavy tasks like video editing and music production. I have the 2019 Pro and it does everything I need it to (except After Effects which I don’t have the ram to support on it, need to use my desktop for that). I really don’t need them to re-invent the wheel with the Pro (although I wouldn’t say no to any ‘upgrades’). It does what I need it too, and if my 2019 Pro broke down, I would happily upgrade to the new M2 Pro.

Was waiting for the m2 air, after the launch seeing the price I went ahead with the old/new M1 Air just because of the pricing. I managed to get a really good deal on it. The M1 costs around 1200$ here in India and the new M2 Air is 1533$. And fun fact apple bumped the price of the older M1 air from 1200$ to 1265$ just after the launch.
