Thought with apple silicon we would get rid of bad thermals and high temps like in the Intel days…well here we go again. M1 is king

What’s insane to me is how much Dave is willing to defend a dated product like this. They swapped the chip. That’s all. And he still dares to say that it has a reason to exist. It’s just a cashgrab.

the answer for this product is simple. it’s macbook gov/mil/edu. it’s not for the consumers. in order to meet the RFP requirement, the product needs to be publicly available. also needs to be new enough to last yet old enough so it’s easy/cheap to maintain. think about the global gov/mil/edu balk purchase. aapl is making the right decision.

So dave let me ask you this, I am currently running the first model of the Asus g14 and am starting to hate it because of the battery life and that it just gets hot all the time and the fans never stop. So right now I hate fans and would actually love to buy the MacBook air m1 or m2 ( I don’t think my work will optimize the m2 enough so I am not gonna pay more money for athletics ). Still, I am worried that it will get hot without the fans even if am not using it under full power, so should I be concerned? and is the switch to a laptop that I can’t game on worth it on the MacBook like is that power efficiency real because if I will buy it I want it to never get hot never?

Umm, the SE3 is older than this and remember that laptops (designs) usually have a longer upgrade cycle than phones, yet the SE3 exists & someone out there just buys that 💩💩

Even my Envy 15 from 2014 looks half decent against some newer budget/mid-range laptops, due to metal topcase & reasonable bezels & ofc a wedge shaped slim profile!

A pity to see that the new M2 Macbook Air & M2 Macbook Pro still only support 1 external monitor….. OMG, Apple, what’re you thinking…😅. Even the old intel macbooks support more than 1…

The only way I see a point to this, is if the M2 MBA throttles faster than the M1 MBA. If the new system has a better or equal dissipation system this thing shouldn’t exist. For all I know it might be the opposite though, we will just have to see when it gets here.

how about actually measuring the sustained max performance of an macbook air m2 and the macbook pro m2 and see if there is more throttling than with m1 models than just arguing “there might be a bigger difference bc more watt”? this is the main argument for the pro in this video, i dont really buy it and why doing a battery test but not that throttling test? you did those in the past…

Newer ever had more Problems (drag/drop failure / freezing fotosoftware ect…) than with my M1 MBP 4k$ !
i really want my 2015 mbp back.
